Founded in 1991, Sonapur College has successfully completed 25 years of its glorious journey and is celebrating its Silver Jubilee in a way consistent with its mission, vision, and goals.  

As a center of academic excellence throughout the Northeast, the College's goal is to foster simultaneous academic and transdisciplinary endeavors. Since its inception, Sonapur College has evolved from its infancy into a center of academic excellence as a meeting point for students from diverse ethnic and linguistic backgrounds both within and outside the region.  

In addition to education, the College also aims to foster a spirit of academic excellence, believing that values-based learning is paramount in a dynamic work environment.  Students at the college have easy access to faculty guidance, comprehensive staff support, and constant monitoring and monitoring at all levels of their excellence in their academic endeavors.  The college offers students a wide range of opportunities and possibilities for self-expression, initiative, and experimentation in intellectual and extracurricular areas.

Infrastructure and Facilities:

Sonapur College has a large and well-maintained campus and offers a tranquil learning environment. The buildings are modern and equipped with the latest technology from Sonapur College, which facilitates teaching and teacher development. The classrooms, units, and laboratories of Sonapur College are spacious, comfortable, and designed to ensure the highest quality of education. The library is excellent too, with a huge range of books, online resources, and knowledgeable librarians.

Library: 

The college has a well-stocked library, which is enriched by a collection of over ten thousand textbooks and encyclopedias. It is managed by an efficient library staff under the direction of the Library Management Committee. The constant enrichment of the book stock and the inclusion of new books from the fields of trade, computer science, economics, education, geography, history, literature, mathematics, and philosophy form an integral part of the current library stock.  In addition, the library subscribes to numerous international and national magazines, periodicals, and many leading newspapers and magazines. In order to meet the demands of the time, the university authorities undertook to computerize the central library to ensure its proper functioning. Each student receives two library cards for one academic session. On the other hand, an additional 50 rupees allows majors students to get two additional cards after the results of the main elective exam are announced. The library has special rules and instructions which will be posted on the library bulletin board from time to time. The book bank is offered to needy and deserving students. After filling out an additional form, these students can borrow the books for the entire course and only have to return them at the end of the examination. The library also offers a "Reserve the Stack" feature, which allows students to pre-reserve a book of their choice. Library In addition to the central library, various faculties of the university have their own departmental library which is used by the students of the disciplines.

Smart class:

In order to familiarize students with the emerging technology trends and to make the teaching-learning process more attractive, the college introduced the concept of smart classrooms on its campus.  

Girls' house: 

Currently, students have the right to stay in a dormitory. ST(P) girls are preferred and selection is based on merit. The hostel is located near the college campus. 

Placement Cell: 

Sonapur College Career Guidance and Placement Cell (CCPC) was newly formed with the following members. The cell will review relevant career opportunities for current undergraduate and undergraduate students. The cell will also explore all possible areas for student internships. CCPCkeeps activity logs (with photos and short videos), including internship logs, for later use to improve college quality. The CCPC will be in direct communication with IQAC College.
