South Calcutta Law College came into existence in 1970. Located in Kolkata/Calcutta (West Bengal), it is affiliated with the University of Calcutta, Kolkata. The educational institute is one of the prominent and well-known law colleges in the country. South Calcutta Law College is approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI), Government of India, New Delhi. The college imparts quality legal education through its undergraduate degree level program, that is, Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and two years Post-graduate Degree Level Programme, i.e.; Masters of Law(LL.M.) The Undergraduate course is a five-year program, which is conducted as per the guidelines of BCI, and the Post-graduate Course is a two years LL.M. Programme conducted by the University of Calcutta. Admission

The admission to the Bachelor of Laws (B.A.LL.B.) The course is done, following the merit list prepared On the basis of the Entrance Examination conducted by the University of Calcutta. Any person who passed the H.S. (10+2 level) examination with a minimum of 45% (40% in case of S.C.; S.T.; and P.H.) marks in aggregate (taking into consideration the best of 4 papers excluding WBCHSE Environment Science) will be eligible for admission to the B.A.LL.B., Course; the person appearing in the (10+2 level) examination will be allowed to sit the Entrance Examination. But their admission to the B.A.LL.B., Course will be subject to the condition of successful completion of the (10+2 level) Examination at the time of Counseling of the admission. The admission of the B.A.LL.B.(Honours) Course from the Sixth Semester is done through a merit list considering the marks of (10+2 level) examination and First Semester to Fourth Semester marks together after inviting applications by the Secretary, Faculty Council for Post Graduate Studies in Law from time to time.
