It was a dream come true for the citizens of the locale when Sree Narayana College, Chathannur was founded in the name of the great philosopher, saint, seer, and social reformer, Sree Narayana Guru. Bearing in letter and spirit the lofty ideals of the Guru, this institution of higher learning established on 31 August 1981 under the Sree Narayana Trusts, Kollam, has been imparting knowledge to the entire society, with the vision of “Liberation through Education”.It was the pioneering efforts of the founder manager late R.Sankar that realized the dream of establishing a group of institutions named after Sree Narayana Guru. This great temple of education endeavors to mold a humane, intellectually accomplished, morally awakened, and socially committed fraternity of young men and women through education. Sree Narayana College, Chathannur situates at Karamcode, near the KSRTC Bus Station Chathannur in Kollam district in Kerala. The College is managed by the Sree Narayana Trusts, Kollam, one of the leading educational agencies in the state.

Girls Hostel:

The college has a girls' hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students. A well-established women’s hostel with an amazing ambiance is functioning on the college campus to accommodate girls coming from non-commutable far-off places within the district or outside. The hostel building and academic building are situated within a radius of 100 meters. The necessary facilities like a spacious dining hall and a well–equipped recreational area and outdoor game facilities were set in the area. There are guest rooms for visitors, faculty, and students. Anti-ragging measures were adopted and a well-structured mechanism has been put in place to monitor ragging-related issues. 

Library:

The college has a centralized library with a sufficient number of textbooks and reference books is an asset to our college. Students and teachers avail of the library facility to improve their knowledge level. Every year new titles are added to the stack, as per the demands and availability of funds. In addition to this, research journals are also available which are useful for postgraduate students and researchers.

I.T Infrastructure:

College computers have a vital role in the current educational system and research. We are providing computer labs for students to enhance their practical skills and support facilities. With the aid of the management fund, we renovated the lab on 29.07.2019 at a cost of Rs. 3,87,778/-. Now there are 23 computers working, and Windows and Ubuntu are installed in all the systems. Students are doing Statistics problems in Microsoft Excel and Programmes in Python Language.

Sports:

The college has a well-maintained playground available on the campus and organizes events like football, cricket, and tournaments like kabaddi. Besides this, a volleyball court and one badminton court are also available.

Placement:

There's no campus placement offered. But students can take up examinations which may help them get employed or get into higher education soon after graduation. Most examinations can be attempted during the last year of studies while there are also some examinations only relying on age qualifications. Such examinations can be attempted at any time as per age requirements. I'm planning to attempt UPSC examinations after graduation while doing my M. A and a certificate course. The college provides a good incentive for students trying to get into the government sector after graduation.
