The Management Committee of the S.K.P.D & Charities founded Sri Kanyaka Parameswari Arts and Science College for Women to promote Women’s Education in 1999.

The institution believes in motivating the student community by inculcating a value system in them, through 3P’s i.e Perseverance, Performance, and Progress. The Institution has completed 22 successful years of experience in the field of education. The institution offers 12 UG, 3 PG,  and one Ph.D.(Part-time & Full time) program.

The Institution is affiliated with the University of Madras. The curriculum is formulated and framed by the University of Madras (CBCS Pattern-Choice Based Credit System) to enhance and enrich students’ knowledge in different disciplines. Facilities and Infrastructure

Library:

The College library implemented comprehensive and effective library management procedures. The library has a spacious reading space and provides a conducive environment for study. Exclusive reference section for students and faculty. Totally, in the library, there are 12,375 books, 26 journals, and e-books from DELNET.

The library is fully air-conditioned and automated using the software ‘Auto Lib’. The library is a member of DELNET. Through DELNET faculty and students can access 3,06,86,265 bibliographic, 45917 periodicals, 11,06,228 Periodical Articles, 61,750 CDROM databases, 6000 Video Recordings, 1025 Sound Recordings, 1,30,753 Theses and Dissertations, 1613 E-Books.

Auditorium:

An auditorium is a place where all the activities & functions like National conferences, intercollegiate events, fresher’s day functions, union inauguration, etc., take place. Our college auditorium has state of art audio-visual equipment it promises to make events unforgettable.

Computer Lab:

Computer labs are fully equipped with systems and the latest software with an environment to implement and experiment with knowledge acquired in the classroom. All the systems have internet facilities.

• The role of the Computer lab is to provide a platform for the students to learn the latest technologies through hands-on experience.
• All UG and PG Students are allowed to access the Internet freely.
• Projector is available in both the Computer Labs to enhance the teaching of programming by showing the demonstration.
• High-speed Internet connection has been installed.
• Computer labs incorporate required software, hardware, and networking solutions to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure.
• Lab provides training and guidance to students and staff in recent technologies of computer science.

Counselling Center:

Counseling is concerned primarily and systematically with the personal development of the students. It plays a major role in preventing students from addressing issues of depression, stress culture shock and also helps them to have a smooth educational experience. Counseling makes the students understand their needs, potential, rational and irrational urges, and other factors of their own nature so as to obtain a realistic self-image and encourage them to reach a stage or stage of self-autonomy. Counseling service comprises giving information and help towards understanding oneself as well as others and being responsible for their own choices and actions.

Medical Facilities:

As the College Management has the responsibility for the safeguarding of the students, they have introduced Insurance Scheme to all the students, Teaching, and Nonteaching Staff. We have taken the Accident and Medical policy for them with a renowned Insurance Company. These are very good schemes and many students have benefited. The medical expenses incurred by them have been reimbursed by the Insurance Company. This insurance scheme has been appreciated by the parents. Apart from this, a Health card has also been issued to all the students, Teaching, and Nonteaching Staff.

Sports Facilities:

Sport is a refreshing act for both the body and mind. The glory of sports comes from dedication, determination, and desire. Having known this glory, our students had toiled to bring laurels to their temple of learning. To enhance their confidence level and to build up their skills, our sports girls have participated in various games and tournaments to showcase their talents. The students are provided with excellent coaching by well-experienced coaches.

Cafe/Mess Facility:

Our college canteen is functioning to serve hygienically prepared quality food to the staff and students. The Students can easily refresh themselves by having a variety of snacks and meals. Two canteens are available to provide traditional South Indian food as well as North Indian food at reasonable rates.
