Sri Venkateswara University Health centre was established in 1963. It is a service Oriented mini-hospital extending free medical service to the

• Employees of S.V.University and their dependent family members like parentsand unmarried children
• Retired employees and their spouses and
• Guested and visitors to the University on various programmes.
• The total population covered is about 20,000/-. The average dailyout patient strength of the centre is about 300. The Centre has aone Senior Medical Officer, oneLady Junior Medical Officer and two Junior Medical Officers, who are assisted by paramedical staffmembers. Specialist consultancy services in general Medicines, general sugery, Dental surgery and Opthalmology drawn from the specialists of S.V.R.R. Government General Hispital, Tirupati are available at the Health centre on specified days.
• The Centre renders Out Patient treatment, Inpatient tratment with 12 beds, Minor surgical procedures, Antenatal Check-ups and post natalcare, Immunixation, Annual Medical check-ups for students and call duty services. The centre also has a Clinicallaboratory and Bio-chemical laboratory, X-Rays, Dental X-Ray, E.C.G etc., for diagnostic purpose,besides an Aumbulance Van for the transport of the patients. It has proposals to acquire diagnosticequipments like Ultrasound Scanner and Upper gastro-intestinal endoscope.

Women's Hostels

Sri Venkateswara University College hostels for women Started in 1954 with only one Block . Now it has 9 Blocks, 5 in Premises-I and 4 in Premises-II inclusive of a Working Women’s Hostel. There are three Kitchens and five dining halls. Hostel office is attached to the hostels with fourteen office staff and a Manager. Every Office Assistant is assigned to monitor the needs of the students of five university Constituent colleges. Hostels are run with the guidance of two Wardens and Six Deputy Wardens. A R.O Unit with Cooling Water facility which serves the drinking water to all the students in both the premises. All the inmates should be within the premises by 6.30 p.m. every day. All the inmates should report for attendance at the respective timings.

Welfare Activities

• Training in Yoga, Meditation classes – This activity starts by 6.30am to boys, followed by girls from Monday to Saturday every week (Nearly 40 students attended these classes per month per batch).
• Training in Music – The classes starts by 5.15pm to 6.15pm from Monday to Wednesday every week in Vocal and Flute (Nearly 10 students took training per month per batch).
• Spoken English Classes for Communication skills – After regular class work, Monday to Friday these classes are conducted from 5.15pm to 6.15pm every week (Nearly 80 students attended these classes per month per batch).
• Internet Orientation Programmes – The Internet Programme is held in our computer centre from 5.15pm to 6.15pm for 3 days Monday to Wednesday every week (Nearly 15 students attended these classes per month per batch).
• Conducting Classes in Dance – These classes conducted from 5.15pm to 6.15pm for 2 days – Thursday and Friday (Nearly 10 students attended these classes per month per batch).
• Personality Development Classes – Every Saturday from 5.15pm to 7.15pm these classes are held (Nearly 80 students attended these classes per month per batch).
• Audiovisual Club – Once in 3 months, important and award winning films are screened for the benefit of the students.
• The students are selected batch wise and classes are run for one month per batch.

Cultural Activities:

Apart from these, the Directorate takes up literary and cultural activities as a prelude to the participation of SVU teams in the South Zone and National level competitions organized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU, New Delhi) every year and communicate with all the constituent colleges, affiliated colleges, P.G. Centers. The competitions are conducted in 5 major events – Fine Arts, Music, Theatre events, Dance and Literary.

Day Care Centre, Department Of Home Science:

A day care center takes care of babies below three years of age. The need for Day care center is being recognized with increasing women employed in S.V University and also in different sectors including educational institutions.

S.V. University has taken the initiative and has established the Day Care Center in the premises of “SVU Laboratory Nursery School” attached to the Department of Home Science under UGC XI plan merged scheme during 2005 to reduce the burden of working women of SVU as well as employed women of Tirupati town and to provide emotional and social support, stimulation and quality child care for children who have to spent time away from home.

Objectives Of Day Care Center:

To provide proper care and nurturing to young children who require attention and who have non-availability of parents during day time. Along with care and nurture, Day Care Centre also provides
