SS Memorial College (an affiliate of Ranchi University, Ranchi) was humbly founded in 1972 by a few philanthropic and dedicated Ranchi people. The college was inaugurated by then Chief Minister of Bihar Sri Kedar Pandey and has an undergraduate education in middle arts and sciences. Business classes were then added to the junior high school and in the years that followed, the university board was authorized to begin teaching at a subject level in the three faculties, i.e. science, arts, and commerce. Subsequently, governance of the college was assumed by Ranchi University, Ranchi and the college became a constituent entity of Ranchi Ranchi University. The college is located on the breathtakingly beautiful and scenic Ranchi-Kanke-Pataratu Highway. The college campus is about 6 km from Albert Ekka Chowk (Main Street, Ranchi) and about 3 km from Kishori Singh Yadav Chowk (near Upper Bazar, Ranchi). The college building was donated by the family of the late Suraj Singh.
