About Sri Sankarananda Giri Swamy Degree College, Guntakal

It was in 1980 when the confabulations among nine members precipitated the formation of an educational society, which was Baptized as "Swamy" Sri Sankaranandagiri and eventually emerged as Sri Sankaranandagiri Swamy Educational Society. This Educational society at its inception level charioted by the following four members of the governing body with the other five as its executive members.

Residential Accommodation

Separate boys and girls' hostels with high security are available on the university campus. Boys and girls have two hostels with WiFi services for UG and PG, accommodating around 150 students each with good infrastructure. A well-equipped gymnasium is set up for the students of the hostel to develop the physical abilities of boys and girls. A hygienic mess is attached to hostels.

The Library

The  Library in  S.S.G.S.  Degree  College has an adequate collection of books, facilitating good services to its students and staff and trying for building communities.    In a  way,  it tries to qualify itself to be a  great library so far as the undergraduate programmes are concerned.  The start of the library dates back to the establishment of the college in 1984.  It visualizes to be a temple of learning to set itself as a  good model.    It is centrally located in the college premises for easy and open access to all its stakeholders in a built-up area of 1464.5 square feet. 

Computer Center

The college boasts of an ultra-modern computer centre which caters to the demands of the faculty-student community. The centre is open to all the faculty and students from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm free internet access is available for the faculty and students at this centre. It is also helping the needy faculty to acquire basic computing skills that they can use to handle the latest technological tools in the classroom and make these teaching sessions more interesting and interactive.  Many faculty members of the science, as well as social science departments, use the centre has procured scanners for image scanning which is very useful to students and teachers alike. 

Sport

The college has a playground measuring approximately 5 acres and a sports room in which all the sports equipment is kept safe. The college has a gymnasium for the use of the students and faculty. The college provides uniforms and kits to the students participating in various sporting events.

Women students are also encouraged to participate in sports events by the lecturer in Physical Education, Smt. V. Vijaya Kumari. Separate timings are allotted for women students visiting the gymnasium. They are encouraged to participate in both indoor and outdoor games.

The college is highly updated with the latest sports equipment, recently College added an Indoor stadium, fully furnished with 4 Synthetic Shuttle Badminton courts with International Standards.
