Jerome Emiliani lay chained in the dark dirty dungeon.Only a short time before he had been a military commander for Venice in charge of a fortress.He didn't care much about God because he didn't need him -- he had his own strength and the strength of his soldiers and weapons. When Venice's enemies, the League of Cambrai, captured the fortress, he was dragged off and imprisoned. There in the dungeon, Jerome decided to get rid of the chains that bound him. He let go of his worldly attachments and embraced God.
St. Jerome's College was established on August 27, 2009. The school focuses on providing and providing high-quality education as well as discipline and infrastructure to support the development of the young. The college is accredited through the Government of Tamil Nadu through the G.O.No. 266, dated 27.07.2009 and affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli from the year 2009. Since then, the college has been able to lead youngsters on the right direction.

Residential Accommodation Girls HostelCittadini Illam , a house for Ursuline sister of Somasca is a women's hostel. Applications for hostel accommodation have to be sent to the Superior during the admission process. Under the supervision of the superior mother and sisters, the college provides housing for 30-60 students each year. The hostel structure is modern, fresh large and close to the college. The rooms are well-ventilated and equipped with tube lights, and fans and equipped with cots chairs, cupboards and a study table. There is also an eating hall that is separate from the common room and lawns that are part of the premises.
Each student shall be present for the roll call at 6.00 a.m. The prayer will follow this and all Christian students are required to be present. The morning roll call is mandatory. The study time is between 6.30 P.M. to 8.00 P.M. During study hours the students are required to attend the study room. Every month, once-a-month competitions like dancing, singing debate, quiz and Outreach Programming are held for the student's improvement.
Boys Hostel:Miani Illam, a house for Somascan fathers is used as a hostel for male students. The College has an on-campus boys' Hostel located on campus to accommodate male students from various parts of the nation. The application for accommodation in the hostel is required to the Superior prior to admission. The Boys Hostel offers accommodation for thirty or sixty pupils. The hostel is equipped with furnished rooms with separate dining rooms as well as a common room and lawns that are part of its grounds.

For admission to Post Graduate courses (PG), a candidate must have passed the 3 years degree courses (under the 10+2+3 pattern) recognized by the University as equivalent thereto.
For admission to all PG courses other than MBA and MCA, the qualifying examination marks in part III (Major, Allied/ Ancillary) alone shall be taken into consideration.
