St. John’s College is one of the Malankara Syrian Catholic Colleges established and administered by the Major Archdiocese of Thiruvananthapuram in accordance with the rights of the minority community guaranteed in the constitution of our country. This esteemed center of learning is the fruit of the vision and farsightedness of the late Archbishop Most Rev.Benedict Mar Gregorios and currently flourishing under the patronage of His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos. Ever since its inception, the College is championing the cause of learning and total development of the region.

Library:

The Library is situated at the heart of the College. It has an area of 8000 Sq.feet. A reading space of 2000 Sq.feet is arranged on two floors. It has a spacious circulation counter and a well-furnished reading space. Teak wood cupboards, wood, and iron racks are used for keeping books. The carpet area of the Stack Room is 3000 Sq.feet. The Library has been upgraded as a first-grade library in 1982. At its initial stage, the Library totally depended upon the Management for funds for the procurement of books and other developments. Later the Government began to extend financial support. The Library receives UGC grants also.

Cafeteria:

The College has a spacious and well-furnished canteen. About 150 persons can dine at a time. It has separate sessions for the staff, women, and boys. The Canteen starts functioning in the morning at 8 o'clock in the morning and remains open till 6:30 pm. Food is being served to students at a concessional rate. There are arrangements to supply snacks, cool drinks, and ice creams at reasonable rates. The surroundings of the Canteen are kept neat and tidy giving special attention to hygiene and cleanliness.

Sports & Games:

Indulging in either sports or games will benefit you in more than one way. It is advantageous both physically and mentally. Sports increase physical strength and stamina while games increase mental ability and improve concentration. It also develops awareness and improves reflexes, reducing response time. Our College’s Physical Education department plays a crucial role in maintaining the physical and mental health of the students through various sports and games activities. The heart core achievements of our students at the University level and National level are always remarkable in the history of our college.

Women’s Development Centre:

Over 75% of the population of St. John’s College is made up of women students. And it is for them the institution has created the WDC or Women’s Development Centre where these students can either relax and study during free hours or have food during lunch hours. There is a sanitary pad vending machine and an incinerator too which the students can make use of.

Faculty: 

There are over 40 lectures in our college in our English department there are 10 teachers. The average age of the teachers is 35. They are really experts I love their teaching method they provide much more clarity than any other department. The thing about teachers is that they do their job really well.

Placement:

The college doesn't provide any placement assistance to college students. It, however, conducts quizzes, and various other programs to develop the skills of students so that they can get ahead in the future themselves.
