The Josephan tradition began in Bengaluru with the opening of St Joseph's by the Fathers of the Paris Foreign Missions in 1858. In 1884 St Joseph's College was founded. It has grown steadily and now has over 10,000 students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. These institutions are currently managed by the Bengaluru Jesuit Educational Society, SJIM is the only Jesuit Business School in Bengaluru.St. Joseph's Institute of Management has offered annual management evening classes since 1968. These courses have been of great help to working managers and the degree has been well received by companies.
