St.Joseph’s College for Women, Tirupur is a Catholic Minority Institution established in the year 2000. It is run by the congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of the Presentation of Blessed Virgin Mary, Coimbatore. The Institution was established by Very Rev. Mother Daria, the then Superior General of the Congregation with a vision to empower Women through quality education based on Christian values. As a Christian Minority Institution, the college is meant primarily for the higher education of catholic girls in the Christian atmosphere.
Other Students however are admitted without distinction of caste or creed and their religious feelings are respected. The college affiliated to Bharathiar University offers graduate and postgraduate courses. Besides academics, the college aims at the all-round development of the students, especially in spiritual, social, and civic values. It gives preference to first-generation learners and also to socially and economically backward women. The motto of the college is “Knowledge Purifies and Charity Enhances”. It manifests a rich tradition of quality and value-based systems of learning to empower women.

The Library is kept open every working day from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. The Card system is followed for lending books. Each student will be issued two tickets. Books may be renewed for a further period of one fortnight. Students are not allowed to sub-lend the books of the library to any person, Reader’s tickets are not transferable. Readers are asked to cover the books borrowed from the library. All the tickets should be returned to the library at the end of the year. A copier facility is also provided.

The College has four computer laboratories with 214 computers accessible to students. The systems are used in the department, office, and computer labs. All machines are linked to the internet- 50 MBPS Bandwidth is available. A Digital Library facility is available. It has advanced infrastructure in terms of hardware and software which cater to the requirements of the students, teachers, and the curriculum. The college is equipped with a dedicated broadband Internet connection for enterprising students to get a chance to be familiar with the Internet. They do comprehensive exploration for their projects and presentations.

Every student of the I and II-year degree class should undergo physical education prescribed by the college. General physical education classes are held twice a week. For all the sports and games events, special coaching is offered by the college from 5:30 am to 9:00 am and 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm by special coaches of various athletic events and tournaments. A gym facility is available for the benefit of the students. Outdoor court facilities like Volley Ball, Basket Ball, Ball Badminton, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Tennis Ball, and Hand Ball are available. Health is Wealth. Along with curriculum teaching, human health care is also focused on Physical education. The sports room, gym, and playground are maintained by the support staff under the supervision of the physical director.
