The College was established in 1981 as the fulfillment of a long cherished dream of the people of Manarcadu in general and the parishioners of the St. Mary’s Jacobite Syrian Cathedral, Manarcadu in particular. The College strives for providing quality education for all, particularly for the weaker sections of society ensuring social equity. The College had its humble beginning on 8th October 1981 when Sri. Baby John, the then Education Minister formally inaugurated it and the classes commenced on 12 October. In the early years, the College functioned as a Junior College, and the classes for Pre-Degree courses in Group III and Group IV were conducted in the four rooms of the Parish Hall and the Kaniyankunnu building of the Church. One batch each for Group I and Group II was initiated on 4th June 1984. The second stage of its growth began in 1991 when it assumed first-grade status. The evolution of various departments is another chapter in the history of College.

The College has a well-stocked library of over 18,000 books and the UGC network resource center helps the students to get information from anywhere in the world. The laboratories are attached to different departments and the computer center has all the modern facilities. The Zoological Museum about 800 sq. ft has a unique facility for housing a large collection of local biodiversity. A well-equipped seminar hall of over 400 sq. ft with modern audiovisual facilities is also available. The College also has a Co-operative Store and a Canteen.

I.T Infrastructure:

The College has a well-established computer laboratory for the students under the supervision of an instructor. Students of B.Com. and B.A. English (Model II) are mainly utilizing this facility for their subjects, namely Computer Application and Copy Editing, respectively.

Girls Hostel:

The College has a UGC-sponsored Women's Hostel which is located on the college campus and provides a serene atmosphere for girl students to stay and study. It is a spacious building and is under the direct control of the college administration, with a resident matron, the hostel provides accommodation for about 50 students.

Our college is one of the best colleges in the Kottayam district and has 50 years of traditional qualities and experience. our college has all the necessary important facilities and has excellent infrastructure facilities.

Placement: 

Our college did not provide any placement or internship to our students because graduation is not needed for a good job and only an autonomous college has the right to make placement and job opportunities for their students.
