St. Mary's College proved to be the first CFIC educational institute in India when it was officially opened by Malappuram District Collector, Shri. James Varghese IAS, in an open session presided over by the Bishop of Thamarasseri, Mar Jacob Thoomkuzhi, 17 June 1996. Initially, the college offered degree preparation courses and in subsequent years the institution marked its presence with private studies in BA History, BA Economics, BA Mathematics, BA English, and B.com.S.  Udaya (CMC) from the first group took first place in the history of BA. In the 2005-2006 academic year, the college became an off-campus center of MG University and in 2010 the campus was affiliated with the University of Calicut. Since its founding in 1996, ST. MARY'S COLLEGE has made significant contributions to the field of sports and play. The department provides accommodation for games such as football, kabaddi, cricket, basketball, netball, badminton shuttlecock, wushu, wrestling, judo, and taekwondo. 

College also operates a fitness center. The department offers full-time cricket and football training throughout the year. Management provides free educational facilities to outstanding sports stars. The girls receive special training to prepare them for the physical tests administered by the CFP and UPSC competitions.
