St. Le Paul's Cathedral Mission College, a Christian foundation, is an educational institution for religious minorities within the meaning of Article 30 of the Indian Constitution. One of the oldest institutions in the country, it is located in the heart of Kolkata, just a few minutes walk from the centre of the city's academic activity - College Street. It was ranked among the top five colleges in Kolkata by the leading weekly magazine India Today. In 2018, the college was named the Best College of 2017 by the Mother Teresa International Awards Committee.

The importance of seminars in the world of academics has a long distinguished past. The original home of seminars it is now known was the ecclesiastical schools of the Middle Ages. The medieval ‘seminaries’ imparted to the students a comprehensive knowledge of a particular topic and taught them methods of special work. It is interesting that the importance of seminars continues to impact the academic world and offers the attendees, a wealth of information from varied perspectives, in one place in a condensed period of time. Exposure to the world of knowledge helps one to develop new ideas and challenge one’s own thoughts. In this process, seminars are essential to increase the academic knowledge of the institution's students and faculty. Library:

The college was founded in 1865. However, as it was only affiliated with the University of Kolkata at the FA level and operated from a rented house at 25 Sukea Street, it could not boast a valuable library. Even before the foundation stone for a modern library could be laid after the move to the headquarters in Via Mirzapore 22, the university had to close. It was not until the college moved into its current spacious premises in 1908, after its resurrection as the college of the Ecclesiastical Missionary Society in 1908, that the origins of the modern library could be traced. However, what seemed missing as part of the FA standard was a need or desire for a modern library with a wide range of books and periodicals.

Since its inception in January 1865, this Institution has had a mission true to its motto: I PRESS TOWARDS THE MARK OF EXCELLENCE AND PERSEVERANCE. Each one associated with the college is continuously striving for attaining the motto.
