St. Peter's College Kolenchery was founded in 1964 and is affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. It is an art and sciences-supported college offering a blended education. It is managed by St Peter's College Trust, a company registered under the Travancore Cochin Literary, Scholarly and Charitable Societies Registration Act 1955. Now the college offers thirteen UG-supported programs, two UG-supported programs, five PG-supported and one PG-supported programs, and three research centers. 

The naming of the College after St. Peter, Apostle of Peace and Concord. St. Peter's College is located in Kolenchery, about 30 kilometers east of Kochi. Kolenchery was once a remote village with uneducated residents. The boarding school proved to be a boon for the rural population of the town. Not only has the college produced thousands of graduate and postgraduate students and raised those who have fallen behind in education, but it has also played a key role in introducing the new look of Kolenchery with many commercial establishments, banks, government offices, and even a medical school made there to beautiful  College supporters believe the phenomenal growth of this institution is due to the endless blessings of our patron saints, St. Peter and St. Peter. Paul. Since its founding in 1964, through constant and tireless effort, the College's management and staff have produced citizens who have distinguished themselves as administrators, directors, clergy, entrepreneurs, physicians, engineers, lawyers, and many other professionals.  The college is affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University and accredited as Grade A (CGPA 3.25) by the UGC National Board of Assessment and Accreditation.
