A Bishop’s dream and a Maharaja’s munificence culminated in the establishment of St. Philomena’s College on October 9, 1946. His Excellency, Rt. Rev. Dr. Rene Feuga, the first Bishop of Mysore vacated his mansion to make room for classes. The Wodeyars, of the Mysore Royal family, encouraged the Diocese in its maiden venture into higher education.

Facilities and Infrastructure

Gym
Whether you are passionate about your physique or not, you can benefit from the gym on campus. The gym contains state-of-the-art facilities and equipment including a treadmill, CV machines, fixed machines, free weights, and a multi-gym. Students as well as the faculty can make use of the facilities of the gym. For beginners, training is given in the use of equipment by an expert instructor. The department of Physical Education oversees the functioning of the Gymnasium.

Residential Accommodations

The college has separate hostels for girls and boys and it also has some private accommodations run by the college where students can stay. All the facilities are provided to the students like Dining facilities, common room, TV rooms, ATM center, etc.

At present the library has in its Stock more than 42,000 books, 850 back volumes, and 250 Educational CDs/DVDs, covering a wide variety of subjects. The Library subscribes to 12 Newspapers, 90 Journals/Periodicals 25 arts, 33 Science, 19 Commerce and Management, and 03 International and 13 Magazines.
