St.Thomas Orthodox Cathedral, Broadway is the first parish of the outside Kerala diocese and is considered to be the mother of all parishes. To have a parish of their own on this sacred soil is a great achievement for Orthodox Christians. This parish was originally built by the British government as a garrison for British soldiers and with the permission of the Anglican Bishop, the members started to share this church and the first Holy Eucharist was started in 1960. The first congregation consisted of 16 members. In the year 2016, this Cathedral celebrated its centenary. From a 16-member congregation, this cathedral has grown tremendously into a big parish including a Chapel at Mylapore and Pilgrimage center on St. Thomas Mount. Presently there are more than 11 independent parishes in Chennai and almost all parishes can trace their origin to St.Thomas Orthodox Cathedral. It was a deep desire of the member of St.Thomas Orthodox Cathedral to start an educational institution to enlighten society and St.Thomas Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Broadway was established in 1958 under St.Thomas Syrian Cathedral Education and Charitable Trust. After serving society through this school, it was decided to start a college for Arts & Science.

Facilities and Infrastructure

Library:

The library is an organized collection of information resources in printed and digital forms that are made accessible for reference and borrowing. A digital library is an electronic library, in which the information is stored in a digital form. With the advancement and new technology in the field of information, students need to improve new skills using the new technology and must acquire new skills such as networking and web-based technologies, live searching of electronic databases, e-journals, etc… The new technologies have facilitated the transformation of data into digital format. Our library provides free access to printed materials and digital resources with the altruistic goal of educational enlightenment and the better welfare of our students.

Photography Lab :

The lab has the latest still cameras for indoor and outdoor shooting. The lab also has Professional lighting set up in the lab for shooting purposes. We give cameras for the students to shoot inside and outside the college campus.

Videography Lab :

The Videography lab has the facility of green matt and blue matt for indoor shooting. We have the latest video cameras for both indoor and outdoor shoots. The Videography lab has a separate lighting facility with a full-fledged professional setup.

Audio Lab:

The Audio Suite has a professional and well-defined acoustic setup as a part of Post – The production processes like dubbing and recording. The Suite also has the original software of the latest version of Nuendo and Protool. We have two consoles. Talkback mic and high-defined Microphone in the audio suite.

Editing Lab :

The Video Editing lab has the original software of Final Cut Pro (FCP). Avid and Adobe Premiere Software to capture and edit the videos.

Audio Visual Room :

The Audio visual room is used to screen classical movies and documentaries for the students. It has the facility of a qualified home theatre system and a big screen for projection.

Multimedia Lab:

The multimedia lab has a full setup for designing and modeling. The students have the facility to work in the system individually. We teach the latest animation software and design software to the students. We also have the facility of a projector in the lab to teach the students.

CG Lab (Computer Graphics Lab) :

We have a separate lab for Postgraduate students. We have the facility of the latest software for designing & Modeling & Special Effects. They do have combustion, after-effect Maya software.

Cafe/Mess Facility:

The College has a well-furnished Canteen on campus. The canteen provides quality vegetarian meals and refreshments to the students and staff of the college at approved rates.

Admission

All prospective candidates are required to legibly fill and submit the Application Form provided with the Course Guide available at the college office. Applications are to be addressed to The Principal, St. Thomas College of Arts & Science, 140/6 A.K.R. Road, St. Thomas Nagar, Koyambedu, Chennai - 600 107, and sent within the specified date.

The following documents shall be submitted along with the application:
Photocopy of the Mark Sheet of qualifying examination.
Photocopy of the Transfer Certificate from the previous institution.
Photocopy of the Conduct Certificate issued by the institution last attended.
Three (3) Passport-size color photographs.
A declaration by the parent or guardian and the student to abide by the rules and regulations of the college.
Photocopy of the Community Certificate.
Migration Certificate / Eligibility Certificate (if applicable).

The application shall be submitted along with the above-mentioned documents within 10 days after the publication of the results. The admission of candidates to their chosen course will be made based on Entrance Examination marks or qualifying examination marks, as the case may be, subject to the rules of the University and the Government and other norms laid down by the College from time to time. All admissions are provisional and subject to the approval of the University.
