St. Xavier's Catholic College of Engineering is conferred with Autonomous Status from the academic year 2022-2023 for the next 10 years by UGC.

St. Xavier's Catholic College of Engineering has seven undergraduate programmes (CSE, IT, ECE, EEE, CIVIL, MECHANICAL and AI&DS) and twelve postgraduate Programmes including MCA and MBA, besides seven University recognized research departments (CSE, ECE, EEE, CIVIL, MECHANICAL, MCA and PHYSICS). All the Programmes are approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and all the UG and MBA programmes have a permanent affiliation with Anna University, Chennai.

Residential Accommodations:

Girl's Hostel:

St. Xavier's Catholic College of Engineering hostel is established to provide residential facilities with a homely atmosphere for the deserving students studying in the institutions managed by our management. This is with a capacity to accommodate 200 students and is situated in close proximity to the college.

Boy's Hostel:

A women's hostel with a capacity of 180 students is constructed in close quarters to the college. Students desirous of staying in the hostels should express their option to stay in the hostel in the prescribed form. The option forms should be handed over to the warden.

Library:

The Central Library of the college has kept pace with emerging challenges, perhaps one of the best technical libraries in the region. The state-of-the-art library stretches over 18,000 square meters; the library has in its collection more than 29,000 volumes with 8900 titles on Engineering, Management and Humanities and subscribes to 110 technical journals, 664 online journals and 4 online databases. It has the capacity to accommodate 200 students at a time. Documents in the Library are classified under Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system. It has a membership of the DELNET Consortium, and it is enabled with Wi-Fi technology and security systems with Closed Circuit Television System (CCTV).

Classroom:

Our classrooms are fully furnished with state-of-the-art technology. The spacious, airy and comfortable classrooms enrich the learning environment for the students. Every classroom has WiFi connectivity and ergonomically designed age-appropriate furniture. To foster opportunities for teaching and learning by integrating learning technology and allowing the Professors to teach using a wide variety of media IT enabled Teaching-Learning pedagogy is used and all classrooms are equipped with a standard array of presentation equipment that provides our faculty with the best multimedia tools for their instructional needs. The classrooms can accommodate 90 students. Our classrooms provide opportunities for a quality education for our students. The facility to use laptops is provided in all the PG classrooms to allow the students to explore more and encourage them towards research.

Computers:

Our Campus consists of more than 1000 high-end Computers operating with Microsoft Windows and Linux. All the computers are networked with high-speed (100/1000 Mbps) Ethernet/OFC/Wi-Fi connectivity. To enhance the e-Learning facility all the computers are connected to the internet with a 510 Mbps 1:1 dedicated Direct Internet Access. Sophos XG Firewall provides protection for our network, users and applications.

Medical Facilities:

As the state of health has a direct relationship with academic achievement, the healthcare cell in St.Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering was started in December 2016. This cell mainly focuses on health promotion, prevention of illness and health education. In the academic year 2017-18 to cater for the healthcare needs of the Staff and Students of SXCCE a new Medical Room with a First-Aid Facility has been added to the existing facilities. Apart from this two MoU have also been signed between Holy Cross Hospital, Vetroornimadam and St. Xavier’s Catholic college of Nursing to provide first aid during medical emergencies.

Cafe/Mess Facility:

The College has a spacious Food Court. It has an appropriately maintained dining hall as well as a kitchen. The Food Court provides refreshments and meals at affordable prices to the students and staff. It helps the day scholars commute long distances to have their food. A variety of hygienic food and snacks including South Indian Meals, Chinese Foods, Juices, etc. Also, packed branded snacks are sold in the Canteen. The Food Court also caters to the functions organized in the college programmes like seminars, conferences and workshops.

Admission

• Application for admission clearly mentioning the program sought should be made in the prescribed form given by the Institute in person or online through the website of the Institute.
• Copies of the relevant certificates will have to be submitted to the office when called for the formal scrutinization of the application.
• If they are in order, and if the college decides to give the candidate admission, challans will be given for paying the fee at the Cash counter.
• Once the counter foil of paid challans is returned and the original certificates are submitted the admission process will be completed.

Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded by the Government and other organizations to the students of desired ability and eligibility:

Adi-Dravidar Welfare Scholarship:

Students belonging to scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other converted eligible communities of Tamil Nadu, whose pecuniary circumstances are certified to be such as to prevent them from prosecuting their studies without the assistance of scholarships are granted scholarships by the Adi-Dravidar and Welfare Department.

Backward Class /Most – Backward Class Scholarships:

Students belonging to eligible communities of Backward and – Backward classes of Tamil Nadu, whose pecuniary circumstances are certified to be such as to prevent them from prosecuting their studies without the assistance of scholarships, are granted scholarships (both fee and half–fee) by the Backward Class Welfare Department.

National Scholarship:

From the year 2015-2016, onwards all the 3 scholarship schemes of the Minority Department i.e,pre-matric Scholarship,Post matric Scholarship and Merit cum means Based Scholarship along with other GOI Scholarship Scheme of various other Departments come under one single Portal namely National Scholarship Portal , Hence from 2015-2016 Minority students should apply for scholarship in website www.scholarships.gov.in

State Scholarships for the Children of School Teachers:

The Government of Tamil Nadu has implemented the Scholarship scheme with the main objective of providing financial assistance to enable such children to pursue collegiate education. The Scholarships are open to the children of all working teachers.

The Tamil Nadu Educational Trust Scholarship:

Scholarships are also awarded to meritorious students by the Tamil Nadu Educational Trust.

Scholarship from the Ministry of Labour:

Scholarships to the children of Beedi Workers are sanctioned by the Assistant Welfare Commissioner, Government of India, Ministry of Labour.

National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC):

Scholarships to the empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.

Free Seats for Poor Students from College:

The college also offers 50 scholarships every year to the poor but meritorious students who are selected for admission by the vicariates. These students (4x11) will be assisted with a subsidy so as to pay the fee of the FREE SEAT category during their course of study. In addition, 6 such scholarships are offered to deserving Dalit students every year.

Pragathi Scholarship:

Only for the students admitted in the first year of the Degree Programme.(For female candidates only)

Saksham Scholarship:

Only for Differently abled students having more than 40% disability (For First year Degree Programmes only)

First Graduate Scholarship:

From the year 2010-2011 onwards Government of Tamil Nadu launched this scheme for students selected through the counselling category only. This scheme is not applicable to management quota students.

Placements

The training and placement cell provides comprehensive training to our students in life planning, soft skills, aptitude, logical reasoning, verbal ability, resume writing, interview readiness, and group discussion preparations. Students are asked to register for placement training in college automation software and continuous training is provided to them. Continuous online assessments are conducted and students’ progress is evaluated systematically. HR’s, corporate heads are invited periodically to deliver guest lectures, and power seminars on employability skills to them. Placement awareness and motivation programs are often conducted for them. Seminars in higher studies opportunities are conducted to motivate them to explore various opportunities both in India and abroad.
