The SUM College of Teacher Education was founded to educate future teachers to be the socially engaged, intellectually competent, and morally honest teachers of tomorrow. SUM College of Teacher Education is an institution headed by Jamia Shamsul Ulam Al Islamiya Mattannur. The university began operations in the 2006-2007 academic year. The SUM Teacher Education College is a self-funded institution where 50% of the places are filled within the background quota and the remaining 50% within the management framework quota.  It is a mixed minority-owned facility managed by Jamia Shamsul Ulamal Al Islamiya Mattannur.
