T.D. Medical College is the 1st Medical college in the state which was started under Private Management. This Medical college is situated in the suburban area of Vandanam, 9 km south of Alappuzha (previously Alleppey) town, facing NH 47, in the Alappuzha district of Kerala State, South India.

This Medical college is situated in the suburban area of Vandanam, 9 km south of Alappuzha (previously Alleppey) town, facing NH 47, in the Alappuzha district of Kerala State, South India. The initials T.D. stand for Thirumala Devaswom, which in Sanskrit means belonging to the Lord of Thirumala since this Medical College was started in 1963 under the patronage of the T.D. Temple at Anantha Narayana Puram of Alappuzha.
The first batch of MBBS classes was started in August 1963 for 50 students. The Kerala government had agreed to upgrade the district headquarters hospital at Alappuzha and handed it over to the Medical College management, to be used as a teaching hospital for the medical students and Government Order No. G.O.(MS).263/73/HD dt. 23rd October 1973 was issued accordingly. Thus this became the 4th Government Medical College in the state.. T.D. Medical College is a rapidly growing Medical College in the state as a center of excellence in every field of modern medicine. This is the lone Medical College in the state which would have the Medical College and College Hospital on the side of the National Highway.
T.D. Medical College is approved by INC, MCI and accredited by Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thiruvananthapuram
T.D. Medical College offers BSc.(Nursing), MBBS, Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor Degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology, Doctor of Medicine in Cardiology, Neurology, Master of Chirurgiae, Master of Science(Nursing), Master of Surgery E.N.T., General Surgery.
