Thangavelu Engineering College was established in the year 1995 by Ponniamman Educational Trust and the TJ Educational Trust with the objective of producing high-quality Engineers and Technocrats.
Thangavelu Engineering College was founded in 1995 by the Ponniamman Educational Trust and the TJ Educational Trust with the aim of producing high-quality engineers and technocrats. The rapid progress made by our country in the field of science and technology has created a phenomenal demand for qualified engineers in all fields and to meet demand, institutes offering engineering training have multiplied.
The colleges are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and recognized by the government of Tamil Nadu. Architecture, Engineering, Technology, MBA, and MCA courses are affiliated with Anna University.

Library
The TEC Central Library houses nearly 28,000 book volumes and 5,800 titles for students to study and research. An online journal database with a link to the IEEE is also available. The large reading area provides a quiet and comfortable atmosphere for students and faculty to pursue excellence in their studies. The library is equipped with all modern conveniences at par with international standards.
Laboratories
The College provides extensive computing resources for research and education. This includes more than 300 high-performance computers in the range of Linux, Windows workstations, and a good number of portable systems. In addition to the generic file server, the department operates two specialized servers for Linux-based database clients and workstations. The department's network communications include a fiber optic backbone, providing 16 Mbps connectivity internet goods and intranet supplies within the Hitech laboratory which houses 11 laboratories. The department has wireless internet connectivity via a campus-wide 802.11b network to the laptops.
Canteen
A well-equipped, modern cafeteria on the campus provides hygienic food at subsidized rates for the students, staff, and visitors to the college.It runs for extended hours for those inclined for a quick snack between their various campaigners. Nearly 12,000 square feet have been earmarked for the canteen, stocked with popular items to provide refreshing breaks for the students within the campus itself.
Health Centre
The Health Centre here at Thangavelu Engineering College is well equipped. It has a separate hospital for male and female students. The health center offers quality health care in a comfortable and private environment. The center has 6 beds and a well-stocked medicine cabinet.
Sports
In TEC, students are encouraged to take an active part in sports and games. To facilitate this there is a huge playing field for cricket, football, tennis, volleyball, athletics, etc. An Indoor Stadium built on par with International Standards houses games such as Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis, and Squash. Gymnasiums are available for boys and girls. The Physical Director oversees and directs sports activities.
