Thanthai Periyar Government Institute of Technology started in the year 1990, is one of the eleven Government Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu which is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and admits students purely on a single window system of admissions. It belongs to Zone 6 of Anna University. A sprawling campus surrounded by lush green cover provides an ideal atmosphere for students to learn and excel in the field of technical education. In addition to theoretically reinforcing the fundamental concepts of the Engineering College exposes the students to the latest trends, keeping in mind industry requirements, through interactive practical sessions, held in well-equipped laboratories.

Library:

The College has a well-stocked library with Books, Video courses, and CDs pertaining to various disciplines. Apart from engineering texts and books of technical importance, a number of books of general value and interest are available. It has a wide collection of over 27,873 volumes. The students are updated with the latest information with the help of numerous national and international journals subscribed to by the library. SC/ST students are benefited from the functioning of a book bank.

Atm Facility:

The State Bank of India has provided an ATM, which is at the entrance of the campus, useful for both students and the public.

Canteen:

The College is providing a canteen facility to the students as well as the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college, it is capable of catering to the demands of the students. Generally, the college provides it to any individual on a contract basis after proper official formalities. It is located at the center place of a college campus. It provides hygienic and economical varieties of food. Breakfast and lunch are sold at reasonable prices. Other snacks and soft drinks are also available here.

GYM:

Our College also encourages the students in developing their Physique. Our Gym is equipped with various machines such that it is brought up to the standards of a Private Gym.

Internet:

To instill comprehensive knowledge in the students, we have high-speed Internet connection in the college. Our advanced curriculum provides time for the students to use the internet regularly. This helps students to enrich their worldwide knowledge and supports them in preparing paper presentations and assignments. Every working day students can avail of the internet from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm at NET Lab which is located at the MCA department.

Sports Facilities:

Sports provide an invaluable opportunity for our students to interact, keep fit, pursue excellence, and work in teams. Our sports facilities are extensive and well-equipped, catering to a wide range of sports. There are indoor games as well as extensive space for outdoor sports.

TGIPT Placements

With a view to making the students come into contact with their prospective employers, a placement and training cell functions in the institute. Campus interviews are arranged periodically for the benefit of final-year students. It also arranges industrial visits and in-plant training for the pre-final year students during summer/winter vacation.

The Placement cell has been bringing placements to the college for the past six years and a number of students from all the streams have been placed in companies with impressive salaries.
