The Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship was founded in 1893 and is affiliated with Rabindra Bharati University. The college offers Bachelor of Fine Arts degree programs in four subject areas. Admission to all these courses is based on the student's performance in the written and oral exams administered by the college itself. Application forms can be filled out offline. 

The board was incorporated on the basis of Art.2(f) and 12(b) U.G.C. They are also in operation in 2004. A university program is currently being established in place of the old art education system. In 1956 the school received the dignity of a boarding school. Recognition by Lalit Kala Academy was followed by approval of the college by Rabindra Bharati University in 1966. Manmathanath Chakravarty, a famous photographer, and three students laid the foundation of the Indian Art School at 240A, Bowbazar Street, Kolkata. Around this time Henry Hover Lock, a student at South Kensington, introduced a new program aimed at mastering copying, practical drawing, and industrial drawing.

Primary selection for admission to the B. The FA program is conducted on the basis of a practical and written examination. Students must bring their own materials for the entrance exam. The final selection in BThe FA course is conducted through the hands-free test.
