The board was incorporated on the basis of Art.2(f) and 12(b) U.G.C. They are also in operation in 2004. A university program is currently being established in place of the old art education system. In 1956 the school received the dignity of a boarding school. Recognition by Lalit Kala Academy was followed by approval of the college by Rabindra Bharati University in 1966. Manmathanath Chakravarty, a famous photographer, and three students laid the foundation of the Indian Art School at 240A, Bowbazar Street, Kolkata. Around this time Henry Hover Lock, a student at South Kensington, introduced a new program aimed at mastering copying, practical drawing, and industrial drawing.

Primary selection for admission to the B. The FA program is conducted on the basis of a practical and written examination. Students must bring their own materials for the entrance exam. The final selection in BThe FA course is conducted through the hands-free test.
