T J Institute of Technology was established in 2001 by Ponniamman Educational Trust and the TJ Educational Trust to produce high-quality Engineers and Technocrats. The rapid progress made by our country in the field of Science and Technology has given rise to a phenomenal demand for qualified engineers in all areas and to cope with the demand there has been a surge in institutions offering engineering education. Three colleges of the Group effectively reflect the philosophy of the Ponniamman Educational Trust and the TJ Educational Trust. Every aspect of the colleges has been designed in a manner to achieve the objectives of the Group in terms of superlative academic standards and the lofty goals of the management.

Facilities and Infrastructure

Central Library:

TJIT Central Library houses nearly 28,000 volumes of books and 5,800 titles enabling the students in their study and research. An online journal database with a link to IEEE is also available. The spacious reading area lends a calm and comfortable atmosphere for students and faculty members to pursue excellence in academics. The library is equipped with all modern facilities on par with international standards. NPTEL video lectures are also available in various disciplines. This facility can be accessed inside the campus through the intranet. Interactive lectures through Anna EDUSAT Ku-Band are also available for the faculty and students. It functions from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. The library owns a book bank section for needy students.

Laboratories:

The College provides extensive computing resources for research and education. This includes more than 300 high-performance computers in the range of Linux, and Windows workstations, and a good number of laptop systems. In addition to the general-purpose file server, the department maintains two specialized servers for database clients and Linux-based workstations. Department network communications include a fiber optic backbone, offering 16 Mbps connectivity to the commodity internet and providing an intranet within the Hi-tech lab, which hosts 11 laboratories. The department has wireless internet connectivity via a campus-wide 802.11b network to the laptops.

Wi-Fi:

The Campus has been interconnected through a Wired as well as a Wireless (Wi-Fi) Network. The facilities provided through these services are accessible to the internet, intranet, and institution-based mail access. The coverage of Wi-Fi is not restricted only to the classrooms but also extends to common areas like the Seminar hall, Library, Cafeteria, Sports Complex, and student hostels. With this infrastructure, the students have an access to all e-learning materials related to academics. TJIT has become an exemplar to other institutions who visit the campus to view & understand the Wi-Fi setup and its achievements.

Medical Facilities:

The Health Centre here at T J Institute of Technology is well equipped. It has a separate inpatient facility for male and female students. The health center provides quality health care in a comfortable and confidential environment. The center has 6 beds and an adequately supplied medicine cabinet. The health center is manned by a medical officer and a healthcare assistant to provide excellent medical care to all the students, staff, and faculty at no cost. The Medical Officer manages the various aspects of the facility. He provides quality health care to everyone, evaluates the quality of services, maintains the overall efficiency of the center, and decides the procedures to be followed in case of emergency. Also, vaccinations and yearly checks ups are done at this facility. In the future, we look forward to expanding and bringing in high-tech medical equipment to serve better.

Sports Facilities:

In TJIT, students are encouraged to take an active part in sports and games. To facilitate this, there is a huge playground for Cricket, Football, Tennis, Volleyball, Athletics, etc. An Indoor Stadium built on par with International Standards houses games such as Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis, and Squash. Gymnasia are available for boys and girls. The Physical Director supervises and guides the sports activities.

Cafe/Mess Facility:

A well-equipped, modern cafeteria on the campus provides hygienic food at subsidized rates for the students, staff, and visitors to the college. It works extended hours for those inclined for a quick snack amidst their various activists. Nearly 12,000 sq. ft. have been earmarked for the canteen, stocked with popular items to provide refreshing breaks for the students within the campus itself.

Placements

The Department of Training & Placements functions tirelessly and endeavors to provide job opportunities keeping in mind the student's preferences and strengths. In the ever-changing technological world where today's technology becomes outdated tomorrow, we fully understand the Corporate expectation from students. Based on this understanding, we have signed MOUs with leading training companies for providing communication, soft skills, and technical training. The comprehensive training program commences from the first semester onwards with Communication Skills and the second semester with Personality Development Program. In the second and third years, the students are trained on the latest technology with at least two certifications. In the final year, the students undergo intensive placement training leading to a successful career launch.

The Department has also signed MOUs with leading Companies for Industry-Institute Collaboration, through which regular guest lectures from Industry are arranged. Also, real-time projects are sourced to the students for testing their skills.
