The Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University were established by an Act of the Government of Tamil Nadu in 2004.
Tamil Nadu University for Physical Education and Sports, established by the Act of the Government of Tamil Nadu in 2004, is unique and the first of its kind in India as an affiliated university exclusively for physical education and sports. After gaining the assent of His Excellency the President of India on August 5, 2005, the above-mentioned Act came into force with effect from September 15, 2005.

Library
The college's central library is well equipped with over 40,000 volumes of books and miscellaneous titles in various disciplines such as computer science, electronics, electronics, instrumentation, mechanics, and civil and commercial administration. The library engulfs many national and international journals and electronic journals. The books are organized and classified according to the universal decimal classification system. The open-access system is followed in the library for easy access to books by students. The central library is connected to an internet facility to allow students to view books online. Professional librarians and technical assistants help users meet their information needs.
Multi-Cuisine Cafe
The college has a canteen which caters to the needs of day students. The cafe offers breakfast, lunch, drinks, snacks, ice cream, and talk items at a discounted rate. They provide healthy and quality food to students thereby encouraging and ensuring an affordable cost of food.
Transport
The College has a fleet of buses from various locations in Chennai for the benefit of students and staff. These buses operate on different routes from different locations between approximately 6:30 am and 6:45 am. The college provides a free transportation service for staff members. Special buses are available after class hours for the convenience of staff and students involved in sports and other activities.
Sport
Physical education is strongly aimed at improving the physical and mental health of the individual player. This results in the development of dynamic personalities. Sports activities and achievements have helped many people get better job opportunities. The clean area with the natural gift of fresh air is an inspiring resource, which motivates the player to perform better. Sports carry the same weight as academics. All sports activities are encouraged by providing all facilities when students participate in intercollegiate, Intra college, and other tournaments. The victorious university teams have won all major sporting events in Tamil Nadu including the Anna University Interzonal Sports Championship.
