Tunga Mahavidhyalaya (Estd. in 1967), is one of the oldest Private Aided College in the Malanad area of Shivamogga District established to cater to the needs of both women and men students belonging to diverse socio-economic backgrounds and aims to cultivate moral, and intellectual, spiritual, and social, emotional and all-round development of its students. It is situated at the foothills of Anandagiri which overlooks the rivulet Kushavathi gently flowing into the river Tunga below and the endless hill range of the Western Ghats beyond. The uniqueness of the college is that along with its presence in serene and scenic settings, it is one of the oldest and pioneer institutions in the Malanad belt offering higher education to students having remote rural backgrounds. The majority of the students of the college have a rural background and come from the lower-income category.

The Tunga Mahavidyal College Library was established in 1967, It moved to are independent building in 1998 which is planned for one ground floor of 70x50, First Floor of 80x60 meters are being used to accommodate Browsing, Circulation, periodicals, Reference, Textbooks, and Language Sections. The building also houses an office, Librarian Room, and a cyber lab. At present the library has in its stock 52,302 books, 87 back volumes of periodicals, and 56 periodicals.

Sports

Tunga Mahavidyalaya sports ground is spread across 4 acres of land supported by an indoor stadium and a well-equipped gym facility. The college has always been on the front foot with sports activities and conducts several in-house competitions and encourages participation in inter-college activities as well.

Auditorium

Tunga Mahavidyalaya college auditorium has a well-equipped Auditorium with all the modern amenities which is in with a seating capacity of 500. All the cultural activities and events are conducted in the auditorium.

Hostel

Tunga Mahavidyalaya college hostel provides a Separate hostel for Boys. Boys Hostel with a capacity of 174 students with 58 rooms. The college provides a Separate hostel for Girls. Girls' hostel with a capacity of 128 students with 32 rooms. we pass out from college and these lives become memorable, now we want to go back to the hostel life again, but it is not possible that everything has changed, we are growing up and these days will always be a memory in our minds and hearts.
