Ujjain Engineering College was established by the Government of Madhya Pradesh in the year 1966. The institute was formerly known as Government Engineering College Ujjain. In the year 1988, Ujjain Engineering College was declared an autonomous institute by the government. The institute is affiliated with the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal, and has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education.
