The University of Jammu informally known as Jammu University, accredited as A+ grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council, was established in 1969 by an act of the state legislature which effectively split the Jammu and Kashmir University into the separate University of Jammu and University of Kashmir.
Through the 2009 Central Universities Act, the Central University of Jammu was established. It was established in 2009. It was founded on the belief that knowledge can improve, purify, and sharpen the mind. It is a government-run organisation. It is located in Samba, J&K (India). As chancellor, Gopalaswami Parhasarathy is the leader of the organization. The organization envisions itself as a leader in higher education.
Students can also share their views and opinions in a safe environment. Alumni can share their knowledge and gain awareness. Jammu University offers many options for students.
Union Grants Commission of India awarded the institute proper recognition. Jammu University was instead accredited by the NAAC with the highest A+ grade. Jammu University was ranked 52nd by the National Institutional & Ranking Framework.
Jammu University offers both UG as PG courses.

A wifi-enabled computer laboratory is available at the Central University of Jammu. Students can access any course-related information at any time.

Students can have air-conditioning in the auditorium. It also has seating for 165 persons. It can also be used as an auditorium for multiple purposes. The auditorium is used for many events, including conferences and meetings.

There are separate hostels at the Central University of Jammu for boys and girls. Students can live in hostels at affordable rates. They are fully furnished and ventilated. They also have a mess. Students feel at home. Students also feel at home in the hostel.

Interviews are arranged by the Central University of Jammu with large companies such as UnAcadamy and BYJU'S. Students are encouraged to develop soft skills ahead of time. They also make sure that they acquire skills that are relevant to the company's needs.

Distance education is offered by the university of Jammu. B.Com in UG domain, and M.A. M.Com with different specializations in the PG domain.
Admission to the UG courses is possible for 10+2 qualified students
For PG courses, only Bachelor's degree holders are eligible.

In a University system, there are many departments, each running courses for a particular discipline.
