The University of Mysore is approved by UGC and AIU.

Mysore University is ranked 47th (Overall) and 27th (University) in the NIRF rankings for 2020.
They were ranked 54th (University category) in the category of "University" and placed 80th (overall category) in the India Rankings 2019, which were conducted by NIRF, MHRD, and Govt. of India.
The 9th place was ranked (State University) in addition to the 15th position (Indian universities) in India's Top University 2017 Survey conducted by Hansa The WEEK National Ranking 2017.
The University of Mysore was the first university in the state which be recognized by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2000 and was awarded five Stars Status.
The second renewal cycle of accreditation through NAAC in 2006 was with a level A+.

As per law, Universities do not require AICTE approval. Only institutions which are affiliated to Universities require approval.
