Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Bhubaneswar was set up on 14th April 1964 by the late Sri Biju Pattanaik, the then Chief Minister of Odisha, under Administrative Control of Odisha Sangeet Natak Academy, Bhubaneswar for proper training and dissemination of Culture under Academic Curriculum. The College was managed from 1964-81 under Sangeet Natak Academy and the Certificate given to the pass-out students were Sangeet Bharati and Sangeet Acharya.

Residential Accommodations  at Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya 

This hostel’s intake capacity is 80 nos, but a maximum of 100 nos. of boarders are now staying in this hostel. The boarders are getting all the facilities as usual like other Govt.’s hostels.

This hostel’s intake capacity is 150 nos. and this hostel building is constituted with 2 nos. of Block. The boarders are getting all the facilities as usual like other Govt.’s hostels. Practice Room & Library facilities are available in this hostel.

Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya has a good library with about thirteen thousand books of which more than two thousand books are of research standard. A librarian, who is a master's degree holder in library science, is working with one library attendant and one Daftury. The library has a reading room facility for forty students.

This Mahavidyalaya has 200 seated one no. of Mini Auditorium with air-conditioned facilities. In this Auditorium. So many cultural programs, Lecturer Demonstration, Seminar, etc. are being organized in this Auditorium. The students of the Drama Deptt. of this Mahavidyalaya are getting benefit a lot. It’s a very good base for the rehearsal.

There are 36 nos. of big classrooms available in this Mahavidyalaya. Mahavidyalaya’s classrooms are well-ventilated and well-equipped with all the teaching Materials. This classroom learning situation is very well and fully based on the ‘Guru Sishya Parampara’ method.

Mahavidyalaya has its canteen building. This Canteen will be started very soon, by this all the staff and students of this Mahavidyalaya will be benefited a lot.

Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya Admission

• Admission to BPA 1st Year Courses of the Utkal University of Culture shall be based on marks secured by the candidates in the qualifying examination.

• Those candidates who have passed the qualifying examination three academic years before the admission year shall not be considered for admission.

• A candidate shall be admitted to a particular department/subject, provided he/she has passed the qualifying examination in the subject concerned.

• Applicants qualifying higher than +2, shall not be considered for admission to BPA 1st Year course in any subject. Those applicants who have passed +2 within three years before admission year shall have to submit a Bond to this effect.

• In case a candidate has passed +2(Vocational, Music) in a particular subject, but wants to get admitted into BPA 1st Year in a different subject, he/she has to face an aptitude test, subject to availability of seats in the department concerned.
