Out of the intense desire of the public of this locality for the spread of higher education in this backward tribal area and in response to heavy public demand, the Govt. of Orissa evinced keen interest in starting a college at Jeypore from the session 1947-48. The philanthropist King Rajarshi Vikram Dev Verma who once ruled the state of Jeypore donated land and buildings for the college. His Diwan and other prominent citizens of the area extended all possible help and cooperation for this noble cause.

Facilities and Infrastructure

The institute's Library advisory committee consists of the Principal as the Chairman, the coordinator and three members from the teaching faculty, and the senior Librarians as members. The committee meets at regular intervals to decide on the purchase, infrastructural development, and improvisation of the Library. The library advisory committee has suggested the automation of the library with the help of NIC Odisha.

The college campus has 24-hour leased 4 Mbps (Broad Band) internet connectivity. The departments are networked with LAN/WAN, connecting all the labs, staff rooms, and library. The Network Operations Centre is equipped with BSNL/JIO servers. Ample computing facilities are provided linking each student with a PC. The campus has become a Wireless Campus by implementing WI- FI technology. Students and staff of the college can access the complete network and browse the internet sitting anywhere on the campus by using Laptops and other devices.

The college maintains four hostels with a total accommodation of 400 boarders in all. Out of these four hostels, three are within the college campus and one is located outside the campus close to the college adjacent to the OSRTC bus stand.

All facilities like water, electricity, common room, dining room, kitchen, office, color television, newspapers, and magazines are provided in the hostels.

The Superintendent, Asst. The superintendent and other supporting staff, nominated/engaged by the Principal are in charge of the internal management of the hostel. SC/ST students are given admission in the Hostel on a preference basis on the production of a Caste Certificate from the Revenue Officer/Tahasildar.

All outsiders, except the members of staff and college employees must sign in the Visitors Book while visiting the hostel and state the reasons for the visit. The parents or guardians of the boarder may meet the latter with prior permission from the Superintendent.

There are well-equipped international standard Gyms separately for men/women students and staff in an area of 2400 sq. ft with the latest equipment in the well laid out in-door Gym units. In order to encourage Weight lifters, Body builders, and Fitness seekers, the following sophisticated equipment designed scientifically for the above purpose is made available:

The institution organizes different Health and Hygiene awareness programs, Medical Camps, Adult Education, and Literacy programs, Blood Donation Camps, AIDS Awareness Camps, Cancer awareness, Disaster Management, Environmental awareness observation of World Health Day, World Red Cross Day, Cleaning of College premises, Hostel cleaning, Helping needy students, etc. are some of the features of the extension activities of NSS, NCC and YRC Units of the College.

Volunteers perform surveys and collect and compile information on Malaria, Filarial, Blood groups, RH factors,s, and Health hazards and Submit reports to hospitals as a part of practical research at the grass root level the extension work includes literacy programs, environmental awareness, Plantations, Wild Life Protection, teaching hygienic methods, and implemented for the rural underprivileged and vulnerable human population.
