About Vivekanand Education Society Institute of Technology (VESIT)

Vivekanand Education Society Institute of Technology (VESIT) was established in 1984 with a mission to provide quality education in the field of Engineering. Founded by the Vivekanand Education Society in 1959 under the visionary leadership of Shri. Hashu Advani and ten other members, the institution aimed to offer educational opportunities to the youth of the nation. Initially, the Vivekanand Education Society began with humble beginnings, starting with 256 students and 6 classrooms in the modest barracks of Chembur Camp.

Residential Accommodations: The VES Hostel, situated in the Hashu Advani Memorial Complex, Chembur, offers separate accommodation facilities for boys and girls. Admissions are granted on a first-come-first-serve basis. The hostel was generously donated by Shri Harkishu Bhojraj Chanrai, Smt. Bhagwani Bhojraj Chanrai, and Smt. Madhu Bhojraj Chanrai. To ensure smooth functioning and active student involvement, the hostel is managed by the following committees:

Library: The library at VESIT boasts an extensive collection of over 47,500 books and journals at both national and international levels. Alongside technical resources, students have access to newspapers, magazines, and internet facilities to stay updated with global developments. The library is divided into two sections:

Reference Section: Offers current editions of textbooks for in-hall analysis. Students can borrow one book at a time using their Library Identity Card.
Lending Section: Allows students to borrow textbooks for a week. Late returns may incur fines.

Library Automation (LIBSUITE -WebOPAC): The Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) enables students to search for available documents within the college. Instructions for usage can be found in the Help Document. Additionally, the College e-Resource provides remote access to the National Digital Library of India (NDLI), offering access to a vast array of authentic resources.

Auditorium: The VESIT auditorium, situated on the ground floor, features a stage for performances and a podium. It is elegantly constructed with excellent acoustics, showcasing a small yet captivating design. An idol of goddess Saraswati and a miniature statue of Swami Vivekananda adorn the stage. The auditorium hosts various events and seminars, often commencing with the lighting of lamps and idol worship ceremonies.

Amphitheatre: Located on the second floor, the amphitheater serves as a multifunctional space with a stage. It is a vibrant hub for student activities, cultural events, and competitions. Its unique architecture and spacious design make it ideal for gatherings and presentations.

Labs: VESIT offers state-of-the-art laboratory facilities across departments, equipped with advanced instruments, apparatus, and software. These labs provide essential infrastructure for students' research work and practical learning. Students are required to enter labs without bags and carry their ID cards at all times, with assistance provided by experienced lab assistants.

Medical Facilities: Comprehensive medical facilities are available to all students at all times.

Sports Facilities: The VESIT Sports Council organizes various sports events, including the annual "Indoor Sphurti" competition featuring games such as Carrom, Table Tennis, Chess, and Futsal. Introduced to familiarize students with the sport, Futsal is a modified version of football played with a smaller goalpost and play area, enhancing student engagement and participation.

VESIT, Mumbai Admission Process

Vivekanand Education Society's Institute of Technology offers a range of courses at both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) levels. At the UG level, the college provides Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and BE Lateral programs. For PG studies, the offerings include Master of Engineering (ME) and Master of Computer Applications (MCA) courses.

Admission procedures for each program are as follows:

Bachelor of Engineering (BE):

Eligible candidates must appear for the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) for admission into the BE program.

Bachelor of Engineering (BE) Lateral:

Admission into the BE Lateral program is based on the marks obtained in the Diploma in the relevant discipline.

Master of Engineering (ME):

Admission to the ME program is determined by the marks secured in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Master of Computer Applications (MCA):

Candidates interested in the MCA program are required to take the Maharashtra MCA Common Entrance Test (MAH MCA CET) conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra State.

VESIT, Mumbai Scholarship

VESIT is dedicated to supporting students who demonstrate both academic excellence and financial need through various scholarship programs. The institute offers the following scholarships to deserving students:

Student Aid Scholarship:

This scholarship is awarded to students who have achieved a minimum grade point average of 7.00 and come from families with an annual income of less than one lakh rupees. Each year, 25-30 students across all departments receive scholarships of Rs. Fifteen thousand each.

Vivekanand Jyoti Scholarship:

One outstanding student from each department is selected for this scholarship. Recipients must have a grade point average of at least 7.00 and belong to a family with an annual income of less than one lakh rupees. Each selected student receives Rs. Twenty-five thousand annually.

Sahayog Scholarship:

This scholarship is initiated by students for students. Funds collected by students are utilized to support one or more students in need.
