Vivekananda Mission Mahavidyalaya is a RUSA-granted, NAAC-accredited (second cycle), UGC-registered college (under 2f). After its establishment on 9th August 1968, the college gradually prospered to become one of the leading higher education institutes in the Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal. Initially, it was affiliated to the University of Calcutta. Since 1985 it has been affiliated with Vidyasagar University.

Infrastructure and Facilities

Library:

Vivekananda Mission Mahavidyalaya Library was started in the year 1968 when the College started. The library had started its journey with a few collections of Books in a small room on the ground floor of the main building. As of now, the Central Library has more than 29,000 volumes (approximately) of books purchased through the grants received from the State Govt., the Director of Public Instruction (D.P.I.), the University Grants Commission (U.G.C.), UGC: MRP, and the MHRD (RUSA). Apart from this, there are Books donated by Kumar Chandra Smriti Raksha Samiti, the Ovarian Library, the District Magistrate, and many other distinguished persons. Facilities :

The Central Library with all its sections is computerized. Cataloging, OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue), and Online Circulation with barcode technology are done through computers connected to high-speed broadband.

Stocks of all necessary References, Journals, Serials, Pamphlets, and Newspapers.

The Central Library is a registered member of N: LIST (National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content) of INFLIBNET (An Autonomous Inter: University Centre of U.G.C.) which provides valuable E: Resources like E: Books, E: Journals, etc. through its network.

Provides E: Books in CD/ DVD version.

Free internet facilities for users with high-speed broadband.

Provides Institutional Membership facility of the Central Library, Vidyasagar University.

Provides permanent Loan Facilities to all the Departmental Libraries.

Card Catalogue facilities are also provided by the Central Library. Newspaper Clippings, New Arrivals Display, and Career Guidance Cell are also done here.

Hostel Facilities:

Vivekananda Mission Mahavidyalaya is located at Chaitanyapur in the East Medinipur district. To facilitate the distance students, our college has two separate hostels for male and female students. The boy’s hostel is located within 0.3 km from the college and the girl’s hostel is attached to the college. Both these hostels have enough rooms and beds for students. Each hostel room has enough lights, fans, and furniture. Each hostel has a kitchen and a dining room. Hostels also have a common room with lights, fans, and furniture. Both the hostels have indoor games facilities in the common room. According to the distance, boys and girls get the opportunity to stay in the hostel.

Common Room:

Our college has two separate common rooms for both boys and girls. The boy’s common room is located on the ground floor and the girl’s common room is on the first floor. Teachers' Common Room and Girls' Common Room are adjacent. There are enough lights, fans, benches, and tables in these common rooms. Indoor games like carrom, chess, ludo, etc. are available in the common rooms for the entertainment of the students.

Playground:

Our college has a big playground. The ground is located in front of the college. Annual sports competitions and annual cultural programs are held on this ground. As the playground is located in front of the college, the front of the college is quite open and pleasant.

Gym:

Health is wealth. Good health is essential for a sound body and mind. Regular exercise is essential for good health. Therefore, our college has a gym center for regular exercise. There are various exercise equipment. Both students and teachers can exercise here.

Canteen:

There is a canteen on our college campus. This canteen is for both teachers and students. There are separate rooms for teachers and students to sit in the canteen. Various types of foods are available in this canteen.

Vision

The college has a ritual of beginning any ceremony held on its premises with the offerings of floral tributes to Swami Vivekananda’s statue and portrait.

Vivekananda Mission Mahavidyalaya is committed to imparting value-based higher education in the Haldia subdivision of rural Bengal. As a result of the philanthropic effort of the Vivekananda Mission Asram felt the need to establish a center of higher learning for the rural population of adjacent villages under Sutahata Police Station, the college was established on 9th August 1968.
