The state government’s takeover of 100-year-old Venkatagiri Raja (VR) College is receiving sharp criticism from many quarters. The prestigious college, with a heritage of several hundred rupees located in the heart of the city of Nellore,  is currently managed by a special official (joint collector) in the absence of a governing body.VR College alumni argue that the special officer was appointed at the request of the court to organize elections for the governing body. The government official can run the institution only until he is taken over by an elected body.

Residential Accommodation

Separate boys' and girls' hostels with high security are available on the university campus. Boys and girls have two hostels with WiFi services for UG and PG, which can accommodate around 150 students each with good infrastructure. The Library

The college has one very spacious, well-lit, and airy reading hall, which can accommodate about 150 students both on the main campus and another library on the second campus. The head of the library guarantees access only to students with a student card. All the students are very disciplined and honest and there is an assistant to ensure the safety of the material. The library employee advises students to establish their identity and is advised to keep personal effects out of the stacking area and register in the register of readers. 

Computer Center

The college boasts of an ultra-modern computer centre which caters to the demands of the faculty-student community. The centre is open to all teachers and students from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.free internet access is available for the faculty and students at this centre. It also helps teachers in need learn basic computer skills they can use to manage the latest technological tools in the classroom and make these teaching sessions more interesting and interactive.
