The Yadava Kalvi Nidhi was established by a few leading service minded Yadava Community people in the year 1962. The aim of the fund was to award scholarship and supply books to the deserving Yadava students. Soon the importance of higher education for the socially and educationally backward Yadava Community people was felt which led to the establishment of the Yadava College in the year 1969.
Yadava College, Madurai Tamil Nadu was established in the year 1971 as a Private (Autonomous) Educational Institute to provide higher education to build a career in the field of Management, Humanities, and Science. The college was started with two pre-university courses in a temporary building. The Tamilnadu Government generously allotted 40 acres of land under Tiruppalai Panchayat limits in the year 1969. In the same year, a hostel building was constructed. The college started functioning in the new premises from the 1970-71 academic year.
There are 2912 students who are pursuing Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses. Three Departments- Tamil, Zoology, and Commerce- have been elevated as Centres of Higher Research. Madurai Kamaraj University has been adjudicated the college as Best College for three consecutive years. The college has been given autonomous status by the University Grants Commission. The college wishes the young and energetic youth to use this campus for their upliftment.
Yadava College, Madurai is approved by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and affiliated with Madurai Kamaraj University.
Yadava College, Madurai courses are offered at various levels like Undergraduate Degrees i.e, Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Microbiology, Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Chemistry, Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) Computer Applications, etc Postgraduate Degree i.e Master of Science (M.Sc.) Information Technology, Master of Science (M.Sc.) Mathematics. Laboratory:
Stock Register is maintained in all departments regularly. Annual Stock verification is done every year by the committee constituted by the principal. Follow-up action is taken on the committee’s recommendations. Lab Time tables are prepared initially Lab equipment thoroughly checked by Lab assistants before the commencement of practical classes and examinations.
Language Lab:
The Language Lab is exclusively allocated to learning the foreign language for L2 learners. Language Lab allows students to learn the language with a much wider variety of activities and language-based exercises. The language lab allows a Teacher to listen and to manage students’ audio which is delivered to individual students through headsets placed in separate booths. The Components of language laboratories are Computers, a Master console, Headsets, and furniture.
Library:
Our College Library functions in a separate building and possesses all modern facilities, the library stocks are classified into various subjects. Our library is very spacious and also well furnished. The Library is partially automated. The library is also equipped with an Intranet facility, a talking book library for visually challenged students. Digital library with educational CDs, E-books, and a separate reading room for the research scholars and the teachers.
Sports:
The Physical Director takes care of all the Sports activities of the college. Special coaches are appointed for coaching the Sports students in various games. Students utilize indoor and outdoor stadiums, gymnasiums, and other facilities.
Computers:
There are Six Computer Labs with 370 Computers some of them have internet Connections for the Student’s academic support. The Computers are serviced and maintained by our technicians.
Classrooms:
The College has a sufficient number of spacious classrooms with good ventilation and electrification for academic activities uninterrupted power supply is ensured by a generator on the campus. The maintenance department takes care of the maintenance and repair of the building's electrical system and furniture. During holidays the classrooms are utilized for conducting Competitive examinations of the government and private organizations.
The Placement Cell of Yadava College Supports Students to get placed in renowned companies. It plays a vital role in the placement and Internships of the students. It has played a pivotal role in creating the linkage between Industry and our Institution. The placement cell is headed by the placement officer with Assistant placement officers and supported by student coordinators of all the departments.
To impart futuristic arts and science education of global standards to the youths of all sections of society and empower them with scientific, humanistic, and ethical outlooks to improve the quality of life of the human race.
To provide quality higher education and research facilities to the youths belonging to the underprivileged sections of society cutting across barriers of caste, community, and religion so as to mold them intellectually as sound, socially responsible, and ethically strong citizens.
