Y.M.C.A. College of Physical Education was founded by Mr. Harry Crowe Buck in the year 1920. Mr. Buck was a pioneer in physical education training in India. The college stands as a hallmark for training physical education teachers, coaching the students who can teach physical education, skills, and techniques of games, organizing sports competitions,s and undergoing research programs. It is a project of the National Council of Y.M.C.A of India. The institute is accredited by NAAC as an A-grade college. It is recognized by the National Council of Teacher Education and the Government of Tamil Nadu.

YMCACOPE Library 

Y.M.C.A. College of Physical Education Library has always been striving hard to meet the expectations of its users. Books are the quietest and most constant of friends. Our library is fully equipped to navigate the students’ voyage to discovery. It is our treasure chest for both students and teachers. The library houses a large and good collection of books on physical education, health education, recreation, and training and coaching. Journals, periodicals, and magazines are also available. The Central Library of the College is around 2000 square feet, with a separate digital resource center for research scholars to access electronic resources. The library is computerized with AutoLib software and automated with Barcode technology. The Library holds more than 12500 books. Hundreds of back volumes of periodicals, Master's Degree Projects, Dissertations, Ph.D. Theses and Encyclopedia of Physical Education and Sports Sciences are kept in the library. It has about two dozen National & International journals.

YMCACOPE About IQAC

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) was established in the year 1996 at Y.M.C.A. College to promote quality enhancement of all aspects of college functioning. Over the years it has evolved mechanisms and procedures to ensure efficient, effective, and progressive performance of academic and administrative tasks and to maintain the relevance and quality of the academic programs.

IQAC focuses on quality enhancement of teaching, learning, evaluation, research, extension, and consultancy opportunities.

The IQAC meets periodically to review the progress of the college and its quality enhancement based on the criteria suggested by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC)and suggests actions for further strengthening and sustaining the quality. The quality of the academic programs is ensured through constant monitoring.

YMCACOPE Hostel

The college has a boys and girls hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students. The Hostel has well equipped with basic and modern facilities and is attached with adequate guest rooms to accommodate the guests who visit the hostel. The hostels are managed by the Deputy Wardens under the supervision of the Principal.
