IIT BHU has managed to achieve the highest CTC package of Rs 2,2 crore per annum in the recent placement session held at the institute. The average package received by students is Rs 22,79,680.91 per annum. The institute has secured a total of 1,128 placement offers and 424 internship offers as of January 31, 2025.
Placements have been done in a diverse range of industries, including technology, consulting, finance, and core engineering sectors. The major recruiters in the recent session include Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Tata Steel, Amazon, Data Bricks, ITC, Amazon, Samsung, Oracle, Walmart and Qualcomm. The placement drive is still going on as many students are yet to get placed.
Sharing the placements, Professor Amit Patra, Director of IIT BHU said, “This year’s placement results reinforce IIT (BHU)’s position as a premier institute preparing industry-ready professionals. The talent of our students and the institute’s commitment to academic and research excellence continue to attract top-tier recruiters. The current placement season is ongoing, and the institute expects to achieve even greater milestones in the coming months.”
The institute completed its 100 years in 2019. According to the official website, Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) Varanasi owes its existence to Bharat Ratna Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, the founder of the first residential university of modern India. Engineering studies at BHU began with the establishment of Banaras Engineering College (BENCO) in 1919. In 1968, the erstwhile engineering colleges of BHU, namely Benco, Minmet and Techno were merged to form the Institute of Technology (IT-BHU). IT-BHU became IIT (BHU) Varanasi on June 29, 2012, by an Act of Parliament.
The IIT BHU placement drive started on 30 November 2024 and went on till 12 December 2024. The range for CTC received in the first phase was between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 1.65 crore. The second phase has started in the first week of January 2025 and will continue till the end of April 2025.
The institute will release comprehensive graduate outcome data by May 30, 2025, detailing job offers, placements across industries, and other key metrics, providing a holistic overview of the placement season's success.
