The Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology (DOTT) is an Operations Theatre Technology curriculum at the Diploma level. This programme prepares candidates to work as competent, dependable technologists in the operating room alongside other healthcare team members, under the supervision and guidance of senior doctors and technical personnel in the delivery of patient care. Candidates are taught how to use various diagnostic equipment, such as ventilators, monitors, defibrillators, C-arms, and patient evaluation skills. In addition, training covers the knowledge and abilities required to manage infection control policies and procedures in the operating room.

 

OT Technicians work in operating rooms, hospitals, intensive care units and Emergency rooms. During surgery and emergency operations, they are largely responsible for aassisting doctors and surgeons. With advancements in imaging technologies for various tissues constituting various organ systems in the human body, such as sonography, X-rays, CT-scanning, PET-scanning Ultra-sound, MRI, and so on, imaging technicians are in high demand. The course aims to teach and train applicants in operation theatre technology and management, as well as how to operate a variety of operating equipment, including electronic and technical equipment found in modern operating rooms.
