What is M.A. in Electronic Media?


A Master of Arts in Electronic Media is a postgraduate programme in Mass Communication, Media, and Event Management. Electronic Media is concerned with many forms of electronic technology and their associated issues. This area is concerned with using electronics to allow the end-user or audience to access the material.

Electronic media delivers material to the end user (audience) using electronic or electromechanical power. Conversely, static media (especially printed media) is increasingly being developed electronically but does not require the end user to access electronically in a printed way.

This programme, which mixes theory and practice, will assist students in learning and practising essential areas of electronic media like Writing Skills, Visual Communication, Communication Theory, Media Economics, Computation Skills, Reporting and Editing, Introduction to Film Studies, Media Laws, Multimedia Productions, Audio and Video Productions, and New Media Technologies are introduced to students. Practical exercises will be included in each subject to enable students to obtain practical experience in the world of electronic media. The course will culminate in creating a documentary film, which will involve constant evaluation of the learners' project work.
