IIT Roorkee is all set to conduct the GATE 2025 examination. It is conducted in two sessions. The exam dates are February 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025. After that, GATE also declares the subject-wise date of the exam and then a list of GATE two-paper combinations which is available to the students from November 14 to November 20, 2024. Along with this, the GATE two-paper combination in which the students can apply for two test papers from the specific combinations imposed by GATE authorities. Read on for more information regarding the GATE two-paper concept.
The GATE two-paper concept allows candidates to select two subjects instead of one. Candidates have to select two subjects from the list of combinations provided by the GATE officials. This new approach was implemented by the GATE conducting bodies to test the skills and knowledge of the students in various subjects of their discipline. The two-paper combination is categorized into Primary and Secondary, where candidates can apply their knowledge in the respective field.
Like in previous years, candidates can opt for one or two papers for the GATE entrance examination, which will require only one GATE 2025 application form.

GATE 2025 Test Papers
Before selecting the two-paper combinations for GATE, it is highly required to learn and understand the codes of test papers. There will be 30 GATE 2025 test papers and multiple sessions for conducting the examination. For a candidate, just one session of examination will be mapped.
IIT Roorkee has published a new paper combination list for the GATE 2025 two-paper concept for the candidates who are currently already registered for the GATE exam 2025. These are in addition to the two-paper combinations that exist in regular and extended application windows. Check the new GATE two-paper combination below. Candidates should note that the test paper codes given below are additional after the original GATE paper combination 2025.

In the GATE two-paper Combination 2025, the first paper is related to the candidate's undergraduate engineering discipline. The second paper is the one through which candidates can apply their knowledge in the relevant field. For example, an ME graduate will have a chance to opt for GATE 2025 AE/DA/IN/NM /PI/XE paper codes in the two-paper combination. No new application form is to be filled up to appear for a second paper.
Here is the list of GATE 2025 test paper combinations with which the candidates can familiarize themselves once they are filling out their application form.

Candidates may attach the second test paper along with their application form if they pay a particular fee. The GATE examination centre of the second paper may be different depending on the infrastructure and scheduling constraints.
while filling out the application form, a student may apply for the GATE second paper. Additionally, after submission of an application form, the applicants may add the second test paper by paying the relevant fee. As such, the GATE second paper test centre will vary on infrastructure and other scheduling constraints.
The application fee of GATE 2025 for female/SC/ST/PWD candidates is INR 900 when submitted within the regular period and INR 1400 when submitted during the extended period. Application fees for other categories would be as follows: foreign nationals/institutes abroad- INR 1800 in the regular period and INR 2300 in the extended period.
The following are the benefits of attempting two papers in the GATE 2025 examination -
The registrations for GATE 2025 closed on 3rd October 2024 (without a late fee) and 11th October 2024 with a late fee. Candidates seeking to appear for the exam must refer to the eligibility, exam pattern, and other particulars available in the GATE information brochure 2025.
