JEE Advanced 2025 Updates: OCI/PIO and Foreign National Applicants

Candidates under OCI/PIO category, registering for JEE (Advanced) 2025, need to choose their category as OCI/PIO (I) or OCI/PIO (F) carefully because changes are not allowed later. Foreign nationals can directly register without JEE Main if the eligibility criteria are met.

JEE Advanced 2025 

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) has issued detailed guidelines for Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) candidates applying for JEE Advanced 2025. These guidelines emphasize strict adherence to rules and careful selection of options during the registration process.

Key Guidelines for OCI/PIO Candidates

These are the key guidelines for OCI/PIO Candidates which are listed below:

Mandatory Selection During Registration:

OCI/PIO applicants who received their cards before March 4, 2021, must choose a category during registration, OCI/PIO (I) or OCI/PIO (F).

• The option once submitted cannot be changed at any later stage.

Clause 15 of Information Brochure:

During the registration process, candidates are required to upload correct and complete documents so as not to violate Clause 15 of the brochure.

Unfair Means Penalty:

If an OCI/PIO candidate registers for JEE Advanced 2025 using both JEE Main credentials and as OCI/PIO (F) through direct registration, then such applications shall be dealt with as cases of unfair means, and candidature will be cancelled.

Eligibility Criteria for Foreign Nationals and OCI/PIO (F)

Definition of Foreign Nationals:

Candidates meeting the following conditions that will be considered as foreign nationals:

1. Not citizens of India (by birth or naturalization).
2. Candidates of OCI/PIO (F) category as listed in Clause 6.2 of the prospectus.

Direct Registration for JEE (Advanced):

Foreign national candidates and OCI/PIO (F) candidates are exempt from writing JEE Main 2025. They may directly apply for JEE Advanced 2025 by satisfying all other eligibility requirements.

Special Eligibility Conditions for IIT Admission

Candidates previously allocated seats through JoSAA but who fall under the following categories are eligible to re-appear for JEE Advanced 2025:

1. Did not report online after seat allocation.
2. Withdrew before the final round of seat allotment.
3. Had their seat cancelled before the final round.

However, they must fulfil additional conditions outlined in Criteria B1 to B3.
