JoSAA 2025: JEE Advanced, Mains Counselling Starts Today; 128 Institutes to offer 62,853 Seats

Now that the JEE Advanced 2025 result has been released, counselling for admission to IITs will begin. Also, JEE Main 2025 counselling for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTs will begin today. JEE Main 2025 and JEE Advanced 2025 counselling are conducted through a unified national-level online counselling process called JoSAA counselling. JoSAA 2025 counselling registration and choice filling will begin today, June 3, and will be available till June 12 on josaa.nic.in.

This year, 54,378 candidates who qualified for JEE Advanced 2025 will compete for 18000+ IIT seats. The JoSAA 2025 seat matrix has been released. This year, 62,853 seats are available in 128 participating colleges.

JoSAA 2025 Counselling Process

The JoSAA counselling process facilitates the allocation of seats for undergraduate engineering programs at various prestigious institutions such as IITs, NITs, IIEST, IIITs, and other GFTIs. While admission to IITs is based on JEE Advanced ranks, seats in other participating colleges are allotted based on JEE Main ranks. The Ministry of Education has established the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) to oversee the allocation process for a total of 127 institutes, including 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 27 IIITs, and 40 Other-GFTIs.

The JoSAA 2025 counselling process includes the following steps, which are mentioned below:

1. Registration – For registration, candidates need to log in to the official portal of JoSAA using their JEE Main 2025 application number, candidate’s name, mother’s name and date of birth.
2. Choice Filling – After registration, candidates need to fill in their choices of branches and colleges in the order of preference.
3. Locking of Choices – Once candidates are done with the choice filling, they need to lock their choices and take a printout of the selected choices for future reference.
4. Seat Allotment – ​​Candidates will be allotted seats based on their rank, choices entered for programmes and colleges, and availability of seats. If students are satisfied with the institute and programme, they can choose the freeze option; otherwise, they can choose float or slide.
5. Payment of Seat Acceptance Fee – Candidates need to pay the seat acceptance fee online. Documents of candidates who do not pay the seat acceptance fee will not be verified.
6. Document Verification – In this step, students have to get their documents verified as per the scheduled time. Document verification will be conducted online. Only after verification of documents, students will be allowed to report to the allotted institute for final admission. 
7. Reporting at the Institute – In the last step, students have to report to the allotted institute to deposit the remaining fees and complete other admission-related formalities.
