Founded on April 3, 1964, by Major Archbishop Marth Mariam Archdeacon Pilgrim Church in Kuravilangad, Palai Catholic Diocese, Deva Math College continues to be a major source of academic inspiration, imparting knowledge to hundreds of thousands of its beneficiaries. The community made its name in Kerala's academic world by establishing two grammar schools and two LP schools in the second half of the 18th century and one high school in 1998. Former Indian President Dr.KR Narayanan and Chevalier dr P.J. Thomas, a famous economist, studied at these institutions. 

The great seers, JEMar Sebastian Vayalil, then Bishop of the Diocese of Palai, and Fr. Paul Alappattu, then Vicar of St. Mary's Forane in Kuravilangad who initiated the founding of the College, had in mind the glorious task of casting out the darkness and spreading the light of true wisdom regardless of caste, creed, language or religion and knowledge to instill other skills that will make the younger generation model citizens, well prepared to meet the challenges of the times. True to its vision and mission, today's college has grown into a major center of knowledge and academic excellence, educating and transforming thousands of students from purely agricultural and rural backgrounds.

The Central Library of the College, located in the middle of the main block and spread over two floors, was put into operation at the beginning of the College's existence in 1964. It has 186 seats and an area of 518 m2. The M. Library has subscriptions to 14 newspapers, 32 magazines, 16 periodicals, and a book inventory of 63,000. The Central Library has goal corners for professors and researchers, a career corner, and a daisy corner for the blind. The ground floor houses an exclusive reading room, a reference department, a periodicals department, a library study, a circulation desk, a search engine/digital catalog, a documentation department, a newspaper kiosk, a real estate desk, a warehouse, and a medium copy. On the first floor, there are face-to-face/reading corners for students and a specialist book collection. 

The Central Library has its website, extensive digital resources, and an excellent collection of digital resources such as CD books for the blind and e-book readers. The library has access to the INFLIBNET UGC N list. Content from the National Digital Library of India is available to students on demand for free on library computers. The library has access to the Journal of Respiratory of the Indian Academy of Sciences. He also has access to open-access journals published by Science Direct, Journals of the American Chemical Society, Royal Society of Chemistry Journals, Wiley-Inter Science, Taylor & Francis, and SpringerLink.
