Library Facilities

The Library of GCE, a house of books spreads over an area of 789.40 m2. There are eight active members including the librarian to maintain and have oversight of the process and services. It has a specialized collection of books, Journals, and other resources in sciences, Engineering, and technology. In addition, audio-visual information access facilities are provided. It holds a warm and comfortable environment that encourages study and intellectual growth. The library is well equipped with an ample number of tables and chairs. The racks are well partitioned as per the genres which hold 65099 numbers of books in total. It provides an easy way to fetch the required books.

The library is kept open from 10:00a.m to 6:00p.m daily. It provides special services like book bank (for ST/ST students), IEEE student branch services, and other general services such as lending service, reference service, and current awareness service. It serves 9 different daily newspapers to gather all the current affairs and other sealing information.

The lending service uses cards to lend the books to the students. Five cards are issued to all the students using which they can avail of five books each semester. Faculty members are provided with three more extra books and the students who belong to the SC/ST community can avail of 10 books per semester

Digital Library

Government College Of Engineering (GCE, Salem) has a Digital Library to access e-journals, e-books, and NPTEL video lectures. For this purpose, a separate Library building has been constructed and 100 Computers with Internet facilities have been provided to access the e-resources. A video conferencing hall is also been established with a seating capacity of 160. T

The following e-resources have been purchased/subscribed and made available to access by Staff and students at ANYWHERE, ANY TIME BASIS through “Remotexs”

This facility is the first of its kind among all Government Engineering Colleges in Tamilnadu.

Boys Hostel Facilities

There are three hostels for boys. It can accommodate 569 boys. All basic facilities are provided to the students. The hostel has a canteen, mess, fax, phone, recreational facilities and many other facilities.

Girls Hostel Facilities

There are two hostels for girls that can accommodate 279. The hostel mess provides meals to the students. Wifi and purified water are available in the hostel.

SPORTS FACILITIES

The Government College Of Engineering (GCE, Salem) cell offers facilities for various games. It is particularly interested in preparing the students to participate in various games and tournaments conducted across the state.
