Govt. Polytechnic for Women Jammu was established in 1988 to cater to the requirements for technical education of female students in society. The Polytechnic is located at Lower Shiv Nagar Near AG's office located on the left bank of the historic Ranbir canal which is situated two kilometers far from Jewel Chowk. The train station is 8 km, and the airport is located 10 km from the school. The new building is well set up with administrative blocks, an academic block multipurpose hall, a hostel block as well as residential areas.
