The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was established in November 1945 as a national-level apex advisory body with the aim of conducting a comprehensive survey of the available facilities for technical education and promoting development in a coordinated and integrated manner across the country. The AICTE Act was formulated to establish the council, intending to facilitate proper planning and coordinated development of the technical education system throughout India. Its objectives include promoting qualitative improvements in technical education alongside planned quantitative growth, as well as regulating and maintaining norms and standards within the technical education system and related matters.

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University (DBATU) was established by the Government of Maharashtra through the enactment of the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University Act No. XXII of 1989. Initially established as a Unitary University, it was later converted into an Affiliating Technological University in 2016 under the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University Act No. XXIX of 2014. With its jurisdiction extending across the entire state of Maharashtra, the university currently affiliates with 272 institutes, catering to a total student population of 1,36,534.

Spanning across a vast area of 468 acres, the university campus serves as a hub of learning excellence throughout the state. Drawing in talented students from various regions, DBATU is dedicated to shaping them into skilled engineers and proficient technocrats. The university boasts well-equipped laboratories with comprehensive testing and analysis facilities, which are also made accessible to industries for mutual benefit.
