Guwahati Institute of Hotel Management, Restaurant Technology, and Applied Nutrition is an educational institution in Guwahati, the capital of Assam, India, which educates students in Hotel Management, Restaurant Technology, General Food Management, and related subjects.  IHM, Guwahati was established in 1984 as the Food Craft Institute with a temporary campus in Ajanta Path, Beltola. The institute was renamed IHM in 1995. The founding director was Ms. Shibani Roy. 

The cornerstone for the new campus was laid by the Honorable Prime Minister Mr.Tarun Gogoi in 2002, then the campus moved in 2006: The campus houses deans, faculty and staff housing, and separate dormitories for boys and girls. In addition to the production professionals, there are regular events such as food festivals, blood camps, annual sports meetings, etc. The Institute of Hotel Management, Food Technology and Applied Nutrition, Guwahati is sponsored by the Government of India's Department of Tourism. The institute is committed to training promising men and women in hotel management and restaurant technology and in specific fields such as pastry, catering, hospitality, accounting, home economics, and related subjects, depending on the industry the intern wishes to pursue.  The practical presentation of and the emphasis on nutrition are important aspects of the student's technical education. The institute has a new configuration of laboratories with the latest equipment for practical training.

The Institute of Hotel Management is affiliated with the University of Assam  University and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Govt. of Kerala.

Courses offered:

Institute of Hotel Management offers Certificate courses in Food Production and Patisserie, Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Hospitality and Hotel Administration, and Post Graduate Diploma in Accommodation Operation, Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Tourism and Hospitality Management. 

Infrastructure and Facilities:

Institute of Hotel Management has a large and well-maintained campus and offers a tranquil learning environment. The buildings are modern and equipped with the latest technology from the Institute of Hotel Management, which facilitates teaching and teacher development. The classrooms, units, and laboratories of the Institute of Hotel Management are spacious, comfortable, and designed to ensure the highest quality of education. The library is excellent too, with a huge range of books, online resources, and knowledgeable librarians.

Library: 

The library accommodates a total of 100 students in approximately 3,500 square feet. The total stock of books and journals is around 7000. The library is available to students and employees. A student can borrow books with a library card and keep the book for 72 hours. 

Hostels: 

The institute has separate reception buildings, two for boys and one for girls. All hostels have a structure of three single rooms. Three shared rooms are allocated to students in the first and second years of study. Single rooms are allocated to third-year students based on merit. All hostel rooms are spacious, airy, well-lit, and equipped with all the comforts expected from a hostel. 

Auditorium: 

The auditorium is fully air-conditioned and has a capacity of 150 students. The auditorium is also equipped with the latest audiovisual equipment. IHM Guwahati is proud of its auditorium. 

Conference Room: 

A well-equipped conference room with audiovisual equipment is often used for group discussions, seminars, meetings, etc. 

Medical room: 

The institute has a medical practice on the first floor of the university building. An experienced specialist comes to the medical room twice a week. These medical facilities are used by day grantees and dormitory students. In emergencies, the university doctor is also available to patients. The doctor's room is equipped with a hospital bed, a first aid kit, and medicines to help you in an emergency.
