The Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Mumbai, the first of its kind in South East Asia was founded in the year 1954 by the All India Women’s Central Food Council under the leadership of Late Smt. Lilavati Munshi.
The Institute is the oldest hotel school, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia on June 27, 1954, by the All India Women's Central Food Council under the direction of Smt. Lilavati Munshi is considered the pioneer in hospitality education in India. Since then, the institute has changed and grown enormously, reaching many milestones in its 67 years in the field of hospitality education.

Residential Accommodation

A walk on Dadar Chowpatty or a jog around the vast Shivaji Park within walking distance! Girls' and boys' hostels are located on campus. Our hostel has 45 well-equipped rooms which are usually allocated on a triple basis. The girl's hostel consists of 20 spacious rooms which are also distributed on a triple basis. We also have a 9-room NRI hostel for those who are eligible to pay the NRI fee. The rooms are equipped with a kitchenette.
Library
Besides these facilities, the institute also has a library of more than 5000 hospitality books and various newspapers and magazines that students can refer to for study purposes. Internet ports are also provided everywhere including the dining room, cafe, and hostel.
Advance Training Kitchens
This kitchen is used for the training of final-year BSc students. H& HA course. It serves the training restaurant "Le Diplômé". It is mainly used for the production of bulk food and serves the canteen (student canteen). It is mainly used for the production of Indian cuisine on an individual level. It services the training restaurant, “Fusion”
Computer Lab
Primarily used for hands-on training in property management software used by hotels, our lab is an on-site resource that is fully equipped to ensure that students receive the best technical knowledge from an industry perspective.
Canteen
This formal fine dining restaurant can also sit approximately 100 pax for a meal. The Individual Training Kitchen (ITK) requires the menu to be served here.
