The Kolkata campus of the Indian Statistical Institute is located in a sprawling 30-acre estate on the Barrackpore Trunk Road (B.T. Road) in the Baranagore suburb of Greater Kolkata. It consists of two approximately equal parts - the office complex and the residential complex, - separated by a public road. This road (Girish Chand Ghosh Street) connects B.T. Road with Gopal Lal Tagore Road, a road which runs along the western boundary of the main campus.
Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), is a completely unique group dedicated to the research, coaching, and alertness of statistics, herbal sciences, and social sciences. Founded through Professor P.C. Mahalanobis in Kolkata on 17th December 1931, the institute received the popularity of an Institution of National Importance through an act of the Indian Parliament in 1959.

Residential Accommodations:
The construction of the Senior Boys' Hostel popularly known as the Research Scholars' Hostel or RS Hostel became finished in 1989. Apart from the studies fellows, M.Tech. college students additionally live in this hostel. One phase of the hostel is reserved for the worldwide college students of the International Statistical Education Centre (ISEC).
Library:
The Central Library of ISI is placed in Kolkata with a community extending to different places of the Institute. Over the years, the library has attained the difference of being one of the richest libraries in the country, mainly withinside the discipline of Statistics and associated disciplines.
The Central Library at Kolkata has over 2,00,000 volumes of books and journals except for many reliable reports, reprints, maps, microfilms, and microfiches.
