Kerala Kalamandalam, deemed to be University of Art and Culture by the Government of India, is a major center for learning Indian performing arts, especially those that developed in the Southern states of India, with the special emphasis on Kerala
It was established in 1930. Kerala Kalamandalam has long been acknowledged as the world's most famous Kathakali school worldwide. This is why it is India's most important public institution, working to preserve Kerala's rich cultural heritage by providing intense learning and improvement. The college offers BA, MA, M.Phil and Ph.D. on the area of cultural and Performing Arts. Kerala Kalamandalam has Departments of Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, Kuttiyattam, Mridangam, Chenda, Karnatic Music, Malayalam, English, and Sanskrit.

Complete the registration form and send it and the counterfoil receipt for payment, to the Registrar in Kerala Kalamandalam, Thrissur, before the end of the deadline.
Take the admissions test for the university.
If you're selected following passing the test to qualify, you will be sent to you for an individual interview.
Additionally, UGC - JRF holders are exempted from taking the test of writing for PhD admission.

Kalamandalam has launched several schemes to re-strengthen the academic-culture of the institution. The syllabi of the degree courses in different performing arts have been revised with the help of the newly reconstituted Board of Studies. The degree has been renamed B.A. instead of B.P.A.
Training in the different art-disciplines begins in the wee-hours of the morning, From 6.30 in the morning there is an interval for a few hours. At 9.A.M., the kalaries start again. The training goes on till noon. In the late afternoon, the classes begin at 3 P.M. In the kalaries where acting and dancing are taught one can watch practising of hand-gestures, eye-movements, facial- expressions.
